Just received my LG 27GL850-B monitor. Well worth the wait on delivery. No dead pixles or back light bleed I can see.

I can now work on my tan over these winter months.

Well, my brain is going into over drive thinking what this could possibly mean for HL3. Current theory: over the years they've tried a few times to create half life 3 and failed, and almost everyone who worked on 2 is now gone. While there are people who would like to work on half life 3 they don't have the experience, and the idea of carrying on the legacy it's very daunting. But a spin-off / prequal is a good way to explore the universe in a way that allows experimentation and more freedom. If this goes well I would imagine the same group of people would, if they haven't already, go into pre-production for hl3.

....I just really want hl3 :(

I've probably read something before and it stuck in the back of my head, there's no way I guessed that.

I played both HL games (back when I could physically manage it) and neither held my attention enough to attempt finishing either of them.

In fairness though, my PC that I played HL1 on could barely run it at anything approaching a playable framerate and I gave up shortly after encountering the first zombie scientist.

HL2 fared better but once I got to Ravenholme my inability to cope with horror themed games kicked in and I was forced to quit in order to preserve my sanity.

People are certain this isn’t Half Life 3 but how does anyone know for sure. Just because it’s VR and doesn’t have 3 in the title? They said it’s a flagship game from them. VR Would probably be the true next level innovation they could take with a game. Otherwise it’s just half life 2 with modern graphics and physics. Valve seem like the company that want to do something more groundbreaking like they did with HL2. That’s why it’s taken so long. Also a dev on twitter said most of the original team have been around and worked on this in some form.

Starting to see some "Black Friday" deals coming out for stuff like GPUs. Saw one deal where if I used some discount vouchers I can buy through work I'd be able to pick up a 2060 Super for just over £300.

Ooh, exciting! I'm hoping to get a good CPU deal, is about time I put the i5 6600 to rest

I'm not even as up to date as that, I think I'm still on a i5 4690K. It's still serving me well for now, impressed by how long it has kept me going honestly!

If you're happy with it, no need to upgrade!

I think in particular I've been CPU limited in some cases of going after >1080p resolutions or >60fps frame rates. It's also a case of wanting to future proof for games from the next console generation, me wanting to make sure I have 8 core CPU. If those aren't a concern for now you may as well wait :)

For those interested, looks like ebuyer has some 'early bird' deals

I'm feeling ready now to build myself a brand new machine. Especially after the Half Life reveal. I've only got about £700 saved though so I'm going to have to start saving hard.

Oh god, look at this Friend haver. Discusting.

Is there noticable lag or other issues?
