Like mine where the faulty motherboard destroyed every single HDD connected to it, the only consolation being that the brand new NVMe was spared.

Ooh, that's a killer! :dread:

May as well post this here too. Who's getting this game for PC then? I for sure will be. I probably won't bother with ray tracing settings unless nvidia's dlss 2.0 makes it possible at good framerates on my 2070S.

Time to see how a 780 Ti holds up at 1080p in a modern game. :dread:

Yeah I'm probably not going to bother with ray tracing in this, I'll turn it on to have a look and see how it behaves but I'm expecting to run this with it off!

Bit the bullet and bought the LG UltraGear 27 monitor from Currys, managed to get an extra 7% with my work discount scheme as well so combine that with the sale it was a damned good deal when compared to full price! Picking it up in store next week and that should be me all set for the next few years of gaming! :toot:

Doom Eternal on ultra and a high frame rate is a different world.

So it looks like I can do ultra detail and minimum ray tracing.

Whoop.

Got my UltraGear monitor setup. Bloody hell this thing looks amazing!

I never considered just how much nicer even Windows would feel at a higher refresh rate, everything just feels so damned slick!

I don't think they've said. Looks like 30FPS to me as I cannot see it running at 60 in some of those settings with the hardware listed.

zXe had a good post earlier exolaining how to setup G-sync.

zXe wrote:It’s still one of the fastest IPS monitors for gaming. At that I have the same monitor.

Also PSA for gsync users. When using gsync in games you’re meant to turn v-sync ON in the nvidia control panel and off within the in game settings. Not sure if everyone knows this or not. It’s not like stated anywhere in the nvidia control panel. When you turn on gsync it defaults to to application controlled. Also if you can push the FPS higher than your monitors refresh rate, e.g above 144fps then it’s a good idea to cap FPS to something like 141 (-3) below max refresh rate number. See guide for more info.

Yeah was thinking the same. Hopefully DLSS can do its magic :simper:

Yeah I've got my fingers crossed that DLSS can make playing this with 60FPS and RT a reality!

Yeah I spotted that link from zXe, very helpful!

Had a good play with it last night, it's incredible how responsive everything feels compared to my old setup. Also it might just be the fact that I'm coming from playing on a monitor from 2007 but the quality of the image itself is fantastic as well - clear, bright and vibrant in a way that my old monitor could never hope to be. I'm very much looking forward to what the neon streets of Cyberpunk look like on this now! :toot:

So Tech Jesus released his Best Of 2020 CPUs videos

TL;Dr - it's the 5600x, but also the 3600 if you can get it cheap.

I am now extremely tempted to get a 3600 rather than wait until what, mid-December/January for the 5600x. A local store is also doing a flash sale on the 3600, meaning I'd save over 100 euros.

HUM

EDIT:

Linus says the same: if you can get it at a good price the 3600 is still the way to go.

HUM

EDIT 2: Ok this vid is from before the 5000 series launch but still.

YOUTUBE FACE!

I've been very impressed with my 3700, I got a good deal on it and it has been taking pretty much everything in its stride so far. I bought it with awareness that the 5000 series was out so knew that it was definitely not top of the pile any more but I'm still really pleased with it.

I figured I can always stick a higher power compatible Zen 3 chip in further down the line when needed.

Linus makes good videos but I don't know why he feels the need to gurn to camera in every youtube splash image.

For the clicks. A combination of algorithms and human nature have worked together to make sure only videos with gurning on the thumbnail get the most views so everyone does it even if they don't want to! :fp:

Soon as I post that, a stock discord I'm in starts showing a smattering of 5600x stock coming in. Only in Italy and Germany at the mo, but maybe France soon?!!?

I'm going to wait it out until December I think.

Reading your posts in this thread is so stressful Taf.

You're going to have a beast of a PC when you get it all together, but I wouldn't be able to stick it out like you have!

It's been 99% an absolute strawberry floating pain in the arse, and 1% genuine bliss (getting a still almost mythically rare 3080FE by sheer chance). I've suffered this much, I may as well try and see it through to the bitter end!
