Have you filled in Nvidia's "notify me" email form? They say they'll email you when it's available.

If i was to get a 3080, would keeping my i5-6600k make that pointless? Currently using a strix 1070

I have, but wasn't putting too much stock (lol) in it being of any real use. Am fully prepped to be F5ing my way across multiple sites at 2pm Thursday :x

Apparently all sales are prohibited worldwide until 3pm CET on Thursday (so 2pm GMT). I'm fully expecting to miss out, but I'll be F5ing the Nvidia site from then onwards.

It'd be a bottleneck (according to a couple of compatibility checkers I used it's technically a bottleneck for the 1070!) but I wouldn't say it was pointless. You can upgrade later after all.

EDIT: Well look at that

tl;dw Yeah it's going to be a massive bottleneck

The only thing really stopping me from waiting is the rumours that the next batch of cards will release in the new year due to shortages. That and the inevitable price rise once the crypto-dicks drive up demand again.

By all accounts Samsung and Nvidia are getting decent yields on the chips. I think the main issues is the popularity of these cards. There is so much hype right now I think they could have 1 million units and sell them all.

I do agree that getting one asap is probably better to avoid the gouging though.

There's also supposedly a 3080 20GB releasing around then too.

Which I guess would cost about a grand. :dread:

I made the mistake of not upgrading right away with the 1000 series last time and the prices barely fell at all over time. This only really happens significantly when a new generation of hardware is released, so you are better buying this year than next. I still would not pre-order anything until there is more reviewer information available though.

Well tomorrow afternoon at 2pm UTC is the embargo time for the founders cards and 17th for the AIB cards.

Christ. How much power do people need? I fully anticipate my new Zen 3/3080 system lasting a good 4 years, perhaps more at 1440p. If you're going to waste your money just get a 3090 :|

Does that mean founders cards are available to buy from tomorrow 2pm? Or just reviews are available

Nope. 2pm on the 17th, it's just the reviews for the FE cards tomorrow

Reviews I'm afraid. There was an issue with some reviewers not getting cards in time so it was pushed back from Monday.

No idea if anyone needs this, but here's a list of 3080 dimensions.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comment ... /?sort=new

My case can't take anything over 30cm so I'm pretty much stuck with the FE regardless of reviews

Take-aways from the reviews I've seen:

20-30% faster than 2080Ti on average (not double, as NVidia initially claimed)
Cooling system much improved and works well
Power draw is high: 325-350w

In LTT review they were informed that it was specifically in Quake 2 RTX and Minecraft RTX.

They also were able to get 41fps on ultra at 4k in FS2020.

There are going to be a lot of sad Pandas out there having to get a new PSU.
