Anyone recommend a good free tool to convert a PDF to a Word file?

Did you get anywhere with this?

I'm looking for a way to add a couple of .pdf files as appendices for my dissertation.

I thought the whole point of PDFs were that you couldn't convert them into an editable format?

The main point is that they do not need to be converted for different hardware and OS types.

Depending on the type of PDF and how it was created, you can edit the text in them etc.

an illustrator file saved as a PDF will open as normal with PDF readers, but open as a fully functional illustrator file again.

It's probably easier to save your dissertation as a PDF and then use a tool to combine the PDF files.

I use this site regularly with good results, it's one of the best out there, fairly robust API too for anyone interested:

If anyone needs to do some serious pdf editing Google Acrobat DC, the new version is easy to use and does everything (including editing PDFs and conveying to doc) and free for 14 days, includes mobile app.

You can do this in Google Docs.

I want to do the opposite for a project at work, I've got about 50 huge Words docs I want to split into sections then convert to about 1000 PDFs.

So far I've come up with a fairly pointless macro that reads each title and spits out a blank Word doc with the section title.

You'd think these problems would be common :?

You can save as PDFs in Word now.
