I kinda feel like this game got such high scores simply because it panders to what most stereotypical 'gamers' like
- Long/grindy game = value for money, even if it's padded out and repetitive
- Stylish presentation and music make the game more engaging and enjoyable than it otherwise would be (Not unlike sound effects on a slot machine)
- Pandering to the male gaze but in a way that doesn't make the viewer feel like a pervert
I know Neir does the same things, but at least that game is somewhat self aware (The "you just want to **** her" text screen for example) and has interesting things to say.
Honestly this game just reminded me of why I can't stand a lot of tropey anime i don't necessarily dislike tropes but this game just seemed to have NO self awareness about them at all. I remember watch Haruhi Suzumiya 10+ years ago and even that was a bit self aware
Not to mention the only gay characters in the game are painted as sexual predators. Which is incredibly ironic given the state of that games treatment of it's female characters
