Loving this so far didn't realise the issues in the game were going to be so dark.

Is there a trophy for collecting all Personas ?

Yeah, one for filling the compendium and one for fusing the ultimate persona. Dunno if they both count to the same goal or not, but the latter is a Ng+ only thing iirc.

Completed this last night with an 85% complete compendium and something like 16/21 maxed confidants. I'll very likely run a Ng+, but after putting 114 hours into it I'm going to shelf it for a bit and catch up on games I had to put to the wayside.

First up, Nier Tomatoes.

:o  :o

That little bitch. I hate the fact I put to the back of my mind how the shadowy figure had the same build.

Regarding how the game handled the revelation: Why the strawberry float couldn't the game just give me the full recap on what triggered their suspicions there and then?! I hated the way it staggered the explanation. DUMB. I also don't know how I feel about the plot device of protag just forgetting these super important moments but recalling other much less important details. Oh wait, yes, I do, I feel that it's strawberry floating dumb. Mostly because it feels weird that my forgetting stuff is as much of a reveal as the true identity of the other Metverse user.

Anyway. Back to the game.

After the first palace do things open up with regards being able to do things after school and in your free time?

I understand the first one was like a large tutorial but found I wanted to do stuff and needed to rest a lot.

This strawberry floating game :x  It was pissing me off almost all morning as only weapon drops I was getting were the axe type (which in a way is what I wanted because up to now I'd say 7/10 have been katana drops), but then the last thing I did before stopping that session put a great big smile on my face and all was well with P5 again.

I finished this last night, and I'm finally free from its clutches.

It was brilliant.

I freaked out because I hit Depths without fully prepping (I had loads of stuff on me, but I'd have prepped even more had I known what I knew once I was in), but it went mostly well. (Especially after figuring out why both wardens were stood outside VR.) I'm out of there now but still not beaten the game.
I was worried that the game would start to outstay its welcome but the only misstep they made since then was that bit where you have to convince everyone to keep going. But even that didn't matter due to what went down before it. :o

I think you could assess this game on 3 distinct pillars: Gameplay, Presentation and Story.

The first two are without a doubt the greatest of the series, but the story simply isn't as well-developed. For its 100-hour runtime, there were only really 3 main events where everything came together, and the social events dotted throughout the year were ignored in favour of advancing the main plot, instead of rounding out the characters like they were in the past. It delivers the main payoff of the plot 20 hours from the end of the game, and the rest of the story is just a case of "I guess there was something bigger going on this whole time". But, thankfully, the gameplay hits its peak right at the end of the game, so it carries it to a thrilling climax (with the most hype-inducing progress bar you've ever seen in your life).

Wrapping up Persona 3 and 4 felt bittersweet. You saved the world from doom but felt sadness you'd not interact with the characters of watch their misadventures again. Persona 5 is more like satisfaction of a job well done, because the characters were more about their work than their social lives.

I agree completely. I kept waiting for the typical goofiness that I was used to, like the military-style assault on the girl's bath in 3, or the awkward group date event in 4.

The ones we got were basically just "and then this happened, but they talked about thieving afterwards, let's look at that part, instead."

4 did such a good job of being a group of friends rather than an organisation of people just working together that it was kind of awkward going backwards.

Hopefully they find a way to improve that in the updated rerelease that may or may not happen, but considering the ending they'd have to change a fair bit.

Aaaand done.

:(

The way they handled the finale was *supoib*. Had I known beforehand I'd have probably not looked forward to it, but they somehow managed to not make it feel like it dragged on.

The credit music really is the best. I *acquired* the full OST (the 3 disc version which is on the US iTunes but weirdly nowhere else). Perfect background music but when the credit music pops up you can't help but crank the volume up!

Phew.

90 hours and done with my first play through. Will probably jump into a second playthrough using a Social Link guide though and fast forward through most of the dialogue unless it's new stuff.

How much is it now? I got the PS4 Steelbook for £37.99 when I pre-ordered it from Amazon.
