Was very generously sent a copy of Persona 5 by Dual a few months ago, and started on Wednesday.

Generally not a big RPG guy away from Pokemon, but wanted to give the GOAT RPG of this gen a chance, and oh my

About 30 hours in so far, nearly finished with the third heart - the bank

It has the best of everything - the 'one more day' addiction of Harvest Moon, the type/squad-match management of Pokemon, the storyline of high quality young-adult novel. Throw in superb style, a light dating sim, plenty of side quests - I'm loving it!

Only complaints so far are that I'm sick of the battle music, and that I feel no motivation to explore Mementos, and therefore am neglecting my relationship with Mishima. Also, some of the battles are hard to avoid when shadows come rushing at you.

Pre-ordered Royal from The Game Collection for £39.95 which is the cheapest I could find it.
Can't be chuffed with that collectors edition at twice the price.

I've waited this long to play Persona 5, I may as well wait for the Royal version to be sub-£25.

At 40 hours now and beat Futaba's palace. A really fun bit of variety and innovation to shake up the formula.

My relationships are pretty imbalanced and I need to either address that or come to peace with it.

You're better off coming to terms with it at this point. The social stuff requires a lot of micromanagement, and even if you start course-correcting now, you may not have enough days left to max out everything you want to.

New Game+ carries over your personality stats, which will save you a ton of days, and make it much easier to max out your social links, and start certain ones earlier.

I wonder if you'll be able to carry over New Game+ stats from regular to Royal.

I picked this up in Japan last month so can answer a few questions:

1. Its super easy to miss the 3rd term (Jan-March). I ploughed over the game and ended up getting the normal P5 ending.

2. You do get extra stuff & money if you have a save file for P5. You can choose if you want to enable the extra stuff when you start a new game in P5R. I should add I have completed the Japanese version of P5 so no idea if it took the PAL or JPN save file.

3. Any new game + benefits from P5 do not get carried over to P5R.

4. Just like P5, starting a new game + on your 2nd game of P5R does get carried over plus extra stuff too. I took a photo of the new game plus screen so I can find out exactly what.

5. If you stealth an shadow with a surprise attack you get a different battle song.

6. The deeper you go into mementos the more the music changes.

7. You can't reaper farm :( or at least after trying for 4 hours I couldn't do it on a flu day.

If you have any more questions let me know, I'll answer them!

Did it feel worthwhile playing through a game this long again for the sake of the added bits?

Darn, was hoping you could start a NG+ on Royal using clear data from vanilla P5. Ah well.

I knew about the battle music. Standard us the new one and surprise attack gets you the original Last Surprise music I think.

Yes 100%, They have added enough and remixed the palaces to make them exciting again. For example the ship palace.. there are more save rooms and parts of have been taken out to streamline it.

The 3 skulls per palace also make exploring the palaces more engaging too.

Although I do say this as I massive P5 fan who would say P5 is for me the best game ever!

Ok, I platinumed this last Saturday. One of the easier games to platinum.

Overall I loved it. The new additions make it seem very fresh.

If anyone has any questions, ask away!

Annoyingly in Australia stores have broken the release date and have been selling it from last week. I'm in the US until mid May so I may or may not have brought a PS4 and preordered a regular copy of P5R to play with my better half!
