I tend miss out on football games nowadays, but after seeing a fantastic review of this game on the guardian website I popped in here. It sounds amazing, and it makes me feel nostalgic about pro evo 4.

Shame the MP is sketchy. Publishers really are taking the piss at the moment.

The gameplay is amazing and scoring a goal actually feels rewarding unlike the scripted FIFA bs of recent games.

One thing I am struggling with is the lack of proper team names and kits. It's tough coming from FIFA back to this.

yeah i had a similar feeling with the kit issue but as the gameplay is so good including the difference between so many teams i think it compensates well.

Online has been working OK sometimes this morning, got connected after 10 mins or so waiting each time and games played relatively lag free, but couldn't connect after 2pm.

EDIT: OK I have come to the conclusion that this game simply does not work online, I have not been able to connect to anyone online. I am fortunate to have two different broadband connections in this houseshare to try, both very good connections (Tried Virgin via wifi, and BT via Ethernet), neither work. I have set DMZ on router and everything.

Faulty goods, cost me £45 at game I am taking it back to shop tomorrow for a refund. May rebuy when cheaper (and online to save a tenner or tescos when they have new stock).

According to comments on the pesfan forum, the maintenance completed yesterday seems to have fixed the online problems for many people.

At last! I'm gonna give it a go tonight.

Finally managed to get a couple games in on this last night.

Verdict? Holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool, this is a good game of football.

Comfortably the best gameplay there has ever been in a football game (not allowing for rose-tinted specs, etc).

I just played as Arsenal vs Burnley while I was getting used to it. First game finished 2-0 and I was loving the player movement, the passing, the way they run onto the ball, the speed of the 'drilled in' crosses (though Cazorla missed a sitter at one point running on to a Walcott cross. Ballooned it over when it was easier to score. It was my fault because I got excited and held square too long.)

The second game summed up, already, why this is going to be strawberry floating majestic. I was 2-0 inside 20 minutes and cruising. So I started to showboat a bit. Kept possession for fun, but couldn't quite score any more. Clock reached the 80 minute mark and they hit me on the break. 2-1. So I pressed to make the game safe and the strawberry floaters did it again. Boom, Ings right through my defence. Ffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu...

Turned the game off with a massive grin on my face. The king is well and truly back. :D :D :D :datass: :datass: :datass:

Sounds good Poser, which version are you playing?

I'm going to hold fire on this, just can't justify buying it when I know I won't get/have time for it. Definitely on 'the list' though.

Sorry, should've said: PS4 version. There was a large (1.6gb) update, but the game let me play single player while it was downloading. It had finished by the time I'd played two games.

I'm the same with finding time, though. I had to eject the Destiny disc for the first time since launch day to play PES last night - felt weird :slol: :fp:

The UI isn't perfect, but it's a mile better than last year's and I found it much easier to navigate to do the basic line-up/formation tinkering. Of course the wrong team names will grate, but I think I'll input those manually, at least for the English clubs.

I just can't stress enough how much fun it is to play. Fast & flowing; feels natural to play and it feels like you're doing it - there's very little 'detachment' from the animations/sequences. It's honestly brilliant and I'm excited about the prospect of learning its intricacies.

This sounds terrific, Poser. I've barely played the game because of the initial online problems. They appear to have been resolved and so I hope to get stuck into it now.

Maybe we'll finally get some VS games played jawa. :D

My life is very hectic at the moment as I'm moving house at some point either this month or next, so I'll be online whenever I can, but will be more dependable for games early next year. :datass:

Well i bought the PC version as well now as well as owning the PS4 so i'll split my time between them. I'll probably do more master league stuff on the PC. For anyone who does have the PC version i found a great basic option file that changes the kits and badges and a load of advertising. http://www.pes-patch.com/forum/thread-8692-page-2.html
