I don't play online stuff in this (cos I know I'm gooseberry fool and can't face getting battered by some unknown kid). Instead I'm playing my almost 9yr old son and we're loving it. He's a Fifa player but now I've got the option file working with real team names etc he's happy to play PES.

Played a game yesterday where I ended up scoring the most comical and accidental own goals ever (and not on purpose). Never get that in Fifa as far as I know.

Played Divisions SIM a bit too. Took 4 games to get a point as I lost 2 games due to last minute winners!. At least I'll be in Div11 soon now :toot:

It's good to that you're both enjoying the PES sofa play, KingK :toot: .

I played a little more Online Divisions today. I entered the last game of the season needing around 850 points to stay in Division 7 :fp: . So... I scanned through and found a team that would net me 931 points if I won  . It didn't work out, though; the players were so slow and weak and I was (naturally  ) up against Real Madrid. I got battered 7-1.

Now, I don't mind losing and I'll play the game through to the end; I never quit a match. This guy was just a complete plum, though. Using Madrid, his players were about three times as fast as mine and Ronaldo was scoring headers from virtually anywhere. But... I broke away and sneaked a goal. This seemed to infuriate the guy because he spent the rest of the game doing "rainbow" kicks and tricks; he had the speed to do this and keep my players at a distance. Yeah, the kind of guy you just don't want to waste time playing against. Ho-hum.

So, I was relegated to Division 8 and, feeling a little sore, I selected Arsenal to start the new season. I'm not that great a player and so consistently using Nice against the top teams was a bit of a stretch. Anyway, I drew the first game against Barca 1-1 and I was a bit unlucky; I dominated the game but the guy scored a last-minute equaliser. Next I was up against (surprise!) Real Madrid... but I was on fire. I went 7-2 up and the other guy started time-wasting and then pausing the game. Finally, he quit.

There are so many asses who spam Madrid / Barca and think they're good players; and so many wimps who quit if they are losing.

I still love playing but I hope I don't bump into these sorts of people for a while. PES  / :x .

I pre-ordered the 2018 edition after some of your comments and the fact that online co-op is confirmed, but the stories above make me hesitant again. I'm not keen to constantly come up against Real Madrid/Barca spammers. At least with Ultimate Team you play a constant variety of teams.
PES has an UT equivalent right?

Diceman, dude, don't let one comment influence you... PES is good fun :) .

Yeah, the PES equivalent of Ultimate Team is MyClub. I've not played it, but you manage a team, selecting and buying players, and you can hire coaches to help you obtain better-skilled players. Apparently PES 2018 will also include a separate match mode where you can select a team within certain parameters (i.e. "B"-rated teams or whatever); this feature used to be in the game and it's cool that it's gonna return.

As with any online game, youngsters (and oafs  ) want to pick the best team to play with and so you often find Madrid and Barca being used. I much prefer playing genuinely great players who pick weak teams and then play well; I can take my hat off to them, whereas with someone just spamming Ronaldo with through-balls I hold two fingers up to them instead ;) .

But, hey, why not try the demo/trial version? Click here to view the PS4 demo in the PlayStation Store.

Cheers Jawa. My mate and I will no doubt stick to online modes where we come up against created teams, rather than picking a real world team and coming up against the same ol' people choosing the top-rated side over and over.
By the way, the version I pre-ordered was the Premium Edition, and it was from Simply Games. £34.85.
Checked about and other sites want £50 - £55 for it. Not sure if that's them putting a placeholder price until nearer the release date (where it'll come down), or if it's a bargain, but I figure if anyone declares it a deal and sticks it in the bargain thread, it'll be you, Jawa.

I've played quite a bit of myclub online divisions and tbh I prefer the normal online divisions despite the odd Barca Madrid spammer. Too many banana splits with Messi, Ronaldo and bale upfront and ppl who are just too feckin good. Also, having to buy managers rather change to any formation you want is annoying. As can't counter the tactics of ppl who are really good; ending up with some heavy drubbings.

So unlike UT, it's quite common to play against people with a team of shit-hot players in myclub?

Yup. However, if you play it enough, you'll eventually have gooseberry fool hot players too.

Following a tough season with Nice that resulted in my relegation from Division 7 last time, this season I have played with Arsenal and it has been a step up in quality. I played three games this evening, just needing a single win to gain promotion back to Division 7.

First up I faced (surprise!) Real Madrid and, despite dominating the game, I lost 1-0. Their keeper was the Man of the Match! The next game was against Arsenal and I struggled at first, quickly going 2-0 down before battling back without success.

So... into the final game and still needing a win, I faced Barcelona. I set the pace right from the start and played well, roaring into a 3-0 lead just before half-time... and then the other guy rage-quit. So babyish! :fp:  . But, hey, I won by default and so I was promoted back to Division 7 :toot: .

I'm going to choose a different, slightly weaker team to play with throughout the next season. It will be challenging!

Sorry I couldn't play yesterday, jawa. We had finally got rid of the child to the grandparents and all the chores I'd been dodging all weekend finally came home to roost.

I did get a game later on, and came across another bad loser. He was with Madrid and I went 3-0 up - he wasn't very good at all. He was pausing loads, waiting at every set play, obviously hoping I'd get bored and quit.

He then stopped playing altogether

So I really stretched the game out. I scored four quick uncontested goals, celebrated every one, and watched the replays. I then waited until there were 92 minutes on the clock, and paused while I made a cup of tea.

Then I blocked him. :datass:

Brilliant  . You know, people who play as Real Madrid and Barca are the worst... often they're not actually good players but they just spam goals from Ronaldo and co. And if they are losing... boy, you can almost taste the tears and the anger over the network  . The great players can use lowly teams and play like champions - I don't mind losing to these folk as they're just so good at the game.

I lost to a German guy the other night, he was Chelsea, I was Stoke. But we had a great game, really tight, and he scored a genuinely sublime goal with Costa. I sent him a message after to compliment his goal and he sent me a nice note back. It's the way it should be!

I increasingly send people messages now if the games have been played in the right spirit, and you can always sense the surprise. One guy was actually commenting about how he never gets sent nice messages and he was quite pleased to receive one!

But I'll never message a Barca/Madrid spammer.

It really should. Back in my PS3 days of playing PES I used to message folk if we'd had a good game or if they'd scored a great goal. I hadn't realised that the online playing code is to treat everyone like a piece of trash  . I started getting some abusive messages if I'd won; I remember that one guy sent a particularly colourful message because I'd beaten him and he said that I used a "cheat team", whatever that is... I was Lazio  . Subsequently I adjusted my messaging setup so that now I can only get messages from people that I'm friends with.

Finished my last remaining (self imposed) master league challenges - got my striker Bauza as a legend and scored a 30m+ free kick with Goretzka. Have played it to death the last 3 months (def got an addiction!), but ready to leave it there and finally catch up on my backlog. Despite some foibles here and there, it's def the best football game I've ever played.

Obviously, still about for online games when any of yas are about! :)

Btw, was good to also see the real life Penaranda in yesterday's final. He got South American player of the season for me and became a superstar, so he has a lot to live up to!

... :toot: . I like to have some online matches with GRcadians now and again. I have still only played the Online Divisions mode; I like trying a different team each season and, as the season is only ten matches, it's not too painful even if they turn out to be duffers!

dmin wrote:...Btw, was good to also see the real life Penaranda in yesterday's final...

I only saw a little bit of the match but he did look to be a very classy player.

Oh boy! I'm well chuffed with this goal that I scored against Portugal today!

I was playing as Lazio and fighting to stay in Online Division 7. The match finished in a draw, but check out the smooth passing and the finish with this one... I actually yelled out "Yes!" as I scored it  .

You can see the goal in game and then look out for the action replay at the end :toot: .

PS I'm not trying to be boastful... I just don't often get a goal like that :) .

That was an amazing goal, you should definitely boast when you score a goal like that, especially if it doesn't happen often.

Thanks, man! Sometimes I play PES and things just don't work out... but the odd moment like that gives me a rush and makes it all worth it. PES  .

Love it! I was playing as Lazio against Barca and I went 3-1 down. The other guy started being an absolute oaf; passing it around at the back, running his keeper around the box with the ball and all sorts of antics.

Scored in the 82nd minute and then grabbed the equaliser in the 89th. Man, that felt good  :toot: .

Hehe. Good stuff, tis so satisfying when you nick a goal at the end!

Nice goal, BTW! Must see if can post some my own goals up.
