This is surprising... I played the demo version quite a bit and the game speed felt fine. I believe you can alter the speed to suit your taste in the options - for offline play, anyway.

I believe the first transfer update is arriving on Thursday, suzz.

suzzopher wrote:...Had the game since Saturday...

A lucky early arrival! :o .

suzzopher wrote:...and the keepers are super humans! They can get to any shot. I’ve only managed to score close range efforts so far.

Ah! I wonder if the goalkeepers skills have been upped from the 2019 version?

Winckle wrote:Gamesradar aren't posting their review until the 12th. Surely that's not the embargo date?

I guess that the embargo is the day of release. Perhaps Gamesradar want to test the game on the online servers before publishing their view?

I hope to play the game on my PS4 during this afternoon. I'll promptly post my initial impressions here!

It seems reviews are embargoed until the 12th, Konami saying that's because the squad update is out then. "In progress" reviews can be posted today.

What this means in practice is a bunch of screaming YouTubers are going to post videos with hot takes because they aren't under NDA.

Well I'm not buying this till the 12th at least then.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

How is The Game speed different?

The passes go too fast to the player now and animations have been sped up a little compared to the demo. They always do this every year.

I'm a little reluctant to agree with the notion that the full game has worse passing and game speed than the demo version "every year" but, hey, I'll play this later and share my own view.

Passing is spot on and more realistic this year, you have to aim your pass unlike previous years.

The only issue I have are the keepers they are ridiculously good.

Yeah, the keepers make unrealistic dives, which is more evident when using the new stadium camera. Graphics are great. Will play some more tonight, but really felt it had been sped up.

I already found the keepers to have mad skillz in the 2019 version. Especially any of the keepers for the 'top'/spammed teams. You could be steaming in with a downward header from point-blank range and they'd get a hand on it.

I'm going to resist getting this for as long as I possibly can. Less than 20 wraps for the digital version might be my biting point.

I'm playing on PS4 right now. First impressions:

> The main menus are a little different; they work okay
> I turned commentary off (I always do!)
> The stadium, surround and grass graphics are very sharp
> Player movement animation is excellent; there are many more animations for physical contact / buffeting
> Passing is slick and - for me - strikes the right blend of accuracy and realism
> The ball seems a little more free-flowing in terms of how it moves; it bounces of bodies realistically when blocks are made
> The computer skill level seems higher than in the demo (thankfully, as that was too easy!)
> The new "stadium" camera default is neat. I wasn't totally sure about it in the demo, but I now like how it works
> The "bug" around an attacker (nearly) always being able to steal the ball of a defender in the demo has been corrected

Right, so that was games against the CPU. I'm now gonna go online... welcome, Online Divisions!

Yeah, Konami had announced before launch that the first live update would take place on Thursday. The schedule for this launch week is:

See below for a breakdown of what's happening in-game in PES 2020 during launch week:

September 10th (Launch Day)
- Data Pack 1.01 releases, bringing with it updated player models and licenses
- Patch 1.01.01 releases, bringing with it a number of fixes and balance adjustments based on community feedback
- The first ever Matchday event, UEFA EURO 2020, kicks off in-game
* Depending on where you live, Data Pack 1.01 and Patch 1.01.01 may release on an earlier date.

September 12th (First Scheduled Maintenance)
- PES 2020's first Live Update scheduled for release, bringing with it the updated player rosters.
- Players who have performed well in recent international matches to be released in-game as the first batch of Featured Players (POTW: National Sep 12 '19)

For the "PC game unlocking" issue, I believe that it will be playable on Steam from 18:00 (UK). Apparently this is the standard "10:00 Pacific" unlock time on Steam (although I'm not knowledgeable about Steam myself!).

Yeah, I think it's to do with them being a Japanese studio.

Online is slick; button inputs are instantly actioned - it plays well. Lost my first match. Folk still choose Barca / Real at every opportunity :fp:  .

I've played three Online Division matches as Saint Etienne. Lost 0-2 to Barca, 0-2 to Barca and 0-2 to PSG. Yeah... not scored yet :( :x .

Edit: Of course, we're still in the phase when even the top players are starting out in Division 12.

Yay! Got a win :-) .

Earned another trophy but trophies appear to be bugged; they're still not synching with the PS Network.

I paid for that. Not sure its ethical to post a free link for all when so much work has gone into it.
