Saw this on the news yesterday and seeing as a lot of us have cats thought I'd mention it.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/06/16/shops-recall-pet-food-potential-link-outbreak-rare-fatal-cat/

Sainsbury's has recalled a dry cat food product amid fears it is linked to a “concerning” surge in a potentially lethal disease.

Cat owners have been advised not to feed their pets the product manufactured by Fold Hill by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Defra.

It follows more than 130 cases of feline pancytopenia, an illness that can be fatal in cats, since April.

Typically just one case of the rare disease is recorded a year, the Royal Veterinary College said.

Pancytopenia is a rare bone marrow condition where the number of blood cells (red, white and platelets) rapidly decrease, causing serious illness.

The FSA said the current outbreak of pancytopenia was potentially linked to specific cat food products.

Cat owners are being advised to seek immediate advice from a vet if their pet becomes unwell and has eaten any of the products listed in the product recall which are sold at Sainsburys and Pets at Home.

We feed our cats with James Wellbeloved dry and Applaws wet.

Applaws wet is okay?! :(

I'm going to stop buying it even if it's just their dry food that's bad. Really worried now.

Thanks for this, I don't use any of those, but have forwarded the list to my family in case they do.

Just to clarify, this is a disease that is deadly TO my cat, and will not actually make my cat deadly?

This was on the news again earlier, its still unknown what the actual cause of the outbreak is which is quite worrying.

A bit more information about Feline Pancytopenia:
