I'd tend to suggest the opposite. I think if we'd got a dog as soon as our first one died it would have been a lot harder to form a bond. It did our family a lot of good to go through a period of greaving before choosing another dog (or dogs as it turned out). My brothers fiance lost her cat a few years ago and her dad bought her a new one the week after. It didn't turn out well, she missed her other cat (which she adored) too much and her dad ended up bonding with the new one more than she ever has.

I have one cat, called Molly. She used to be a stray, but we took her in and she's brilliant.

Nothing says brilliant like a pet that jumps on you with it's claws out when your getting in the shower ;)

Yes, I guess grieving is a very personal process. Everyone experiences it in their own way.

Just never say to someone who's lost a pet "I know how you feel". Nothing got me more angry than hearing that.

I'd love to have a cat, but we're three floors up with no garden, dammit.

I'm disappointed Stu hasn't shown you his dog, Rocky, in this thread. He's really rather cute. 8-)

He has I think, just after I posted a pic of mine.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss Krafty. I know how upsetting it is to lose a pet/friend.

Here is a pic of Rocky asleep.

Had a much better cuter one where she's up on the dashboard but it was saved to phone, not mem card so it got deleted when my mum texted me :(

My, (well my folks but she spends more time with me then anyone else) cat Rosie;

Image

She had a brother, Jim, when we brought her but he disappeared when we were on holiday one year and we never saw him again.
I was well annoyed as Jim was "my" cat and Rosie was my sisters. Jim was a much bigger cat and incredibly lazy & content even when he was young, he'd purr like a lawnmower at the drop of a hat and he used to sleep in the middle of the road or our tiny cul de sac in the hot weather. It was quite amusing as we watched people slowly roll their cars right over him and he wouldn't even flinch!

Rosie is quite old now but still looks young, she's very stupid and occasionally has to be shown to her food before she'll eat it.

We have a goldfish who is older than me (21).

Parents won him at the fair apparently, along with another one that died last year.

Anyone here have a snake?
I've always wanted one but between parents and landlords it's always a no no. :(
