He was my Brother's. I didn't like him.

He was in his hut, in a lovely cage we made for him, locked in a shed out the back at night. Very strange when I found him, he was laid out stretched as if he'd been killed.

That shed is cursed mind, we have cats too, and I've often found one or two dead there also. Although that may be due to the fact that they're all inbred (the neighbourhood tomcat has been going solo for far too long now) and they're supposed to die.

They're gooseberry fool (literallY) - not only was he a boring little strawberry floater, he shat everywhere he went, dropping out one ball of gooseberry fool every twenty seconds on average. We couldn't possibly have kept him. I didn't shed a tear when I found him dead out the back soon after.

I love animals but...

I laughed so hard at how mean that sounded. I just keep imagining a face (yours) of bewilderment upon seeing the rabbit shitting so much so often.

Id get rid of the shed, sounds abit Holocausty to me

In fact - to prove my love for animals, once when a kitten lost its mother to a car tyre - I put the kitten in said shed (I know, bad idea) but I covered every little whole with tape and boards, the place looked ridiculous in the morning and my parents were dazzled. The kitten was fine, I left it like that for a week. But then one morning it had died, I came to the conclusion that it was the tomcats fault for strawberry floating his daughters silly.

Also, two years ago my friend was playing around with a hurley, he was taking a swing when his cat took a sudden jump in front of him - he decapitated the cat and the head ended up over the fence and into the neighbours garden! It was sickening, and my stomach's not easily twisted. It was accidental though.

It is what it is, we said. It was his sisters cat, but she grew apart from it, her being in college and all. Parents were more blown away by the event than the loss of their pet.

The cat basically became something of a lurker, I shouted my lungs off as it was one of those slo-mo moments where I can see it all, and he sees nothing so makes it look all the more vicious. CRINGE. Blood on fence, head over fence, body with us. :x

I don't think "Holocausty" should be a real world.

Get a couple of ferrets! They sleep about 18/20 hours a day, will play with you whenever you want and play with each other the rest of the time. They're brill!

Don't they smell?

A bit. Males smell more than females but if you have them spayed and neutered that reduces then it reduces the smell quite a bit. Clean out the litter in the cage evey day and the bedding once every week or two helps to reduce it even more. Sometimes when they get really excited they let out a strong smell from their scent glands. It's not a very nice smell but it doesn't linger. I wash them once every month or so (a wet wipe does the job). You can also litter train them when they're running free but they're not a reliable as cats or dogs with toilet training.

Another issue people bring up is biting. If one more person brings up "oooh, I remember the clip with Richard Whitely and the ferret" I'll scream. Yes, ferrets can bite but I've not found it to be anymore of an issue than with cats or dogs. All three of mine were rescue ferrets, found as strays and I've only ever been nipped once. I've had cat scratches that were worse.

When I had my first two (Cassie was a late addition) I honestly didn't notice the smell. It's only now that I'm expanding my ferret family that I'm moving them out into a converted shed. And if I'm honest, that's less to do with the smell and more to do with issue of space (the four story cage I have is only big enough for 3 ferrets, not the extra 2 I'm getting soon).

Here's me curling my rabbit.I call him Hansle. My brother calls him Conker. God knows why - but look at him clinging on for dear life!

I've got six baby rabbits in the garden, and another female one which comes in white. I dislike the babies and the female one, which is why I'm posting just Hansle, alone.

I have a gorgeous Flatcoated Retriever, called Jemma

Image

Think of them as Labradors with much softer fur and longer noses. They've also got a very friendly temperment (possibly overfriendly with new people) but this means they don't just get boring and fat, like a Labrador after 2 years. They're known as the "Peter Pan" of dogs.

Image

Jemma loves attention, and needs loads of exercise, but it's good as it gets me outside as often as possible. She's also fine to be left alone for upwards of 6 hours, though I don't like doing that.

Image

She's about 4 years old now, and she did have a brother called Troy, but he died of a brain tumor last year, but it was on the same day as Denster's cat so no-one cared. Not even me, I was too busy worrying about Denster's cat.

Everyone admire my dog, kthxby

I've not had a pet since a mink killed my rabbit Starsky and buried bits of him all over the garden.

I have a pet gecko, my Dad made this little video for it :D

Check 2:25, it yawns.

It was shedding it's skin at that moment, usually it's a more yellowy green colour.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Our cat, Jumble. Had him about 7 years now - he's coming up to 8 or 9 years old. He gets in fights rather regularly, and had a particularly bad one recently that he has yet to fully recover from.

He's lovely though. :D

:D my dog is ridiculously calm - a million miles from the stereotypically slobbering, attention-seeking dog that most people think of.

Besides, did you see that program about pedigree dogs and the inbreeding that results, a few days ago? Crazy to think that mongrels are looked down on. The fact that it sounds like a derogatory term doesn't help I guess.

My parents told me about that, infact I'm glad I didn't see it, it sounds awful :(

Yeah our mongrel is like no dog we've had before. I think he's much more assertive, Bramble had to go in for surgery yesterday, she was most of the day and Dudley sat by the window all day looking out. When she came back he licked her face (they don't normally), and instead of growling at her for lying in his bed, he let her. I thought it was really sweet anyway

That is sweet (seeing as I'm a straight guy I think that deserves a  x 3)! I love it when my dog does stuff that shows that he really does have a personality and just makes me smile!

So true about them loving you for feeding you. My dad used to be my dog's favourite person by a mile, but now that he's moved abroad (for a new job), I do most of his feeding/ walking and he is much more attached to me now.

That's a lovely dog Aaron has too. :)

I wuv my doggy too! Hate it when people go "oh they're just dumb animals". FFS.

My dog is 11 now and I've had a couple of dreams where he's died and I was crying my eyes out (in the dream). Horrible. But, there will be a time when he goes and a dog like your's would feature highly on my list. Can't get one like my current dog, as he's a mongrel (dunno what mixture!).

Yeah, it's horrible as anything when a pet dies. I would recommend getting another as soon as possible. I know it sounds like you're replacing the previous one, but it's not like that at all. Besides, mongrels tend to live for far longer than pedigrees. Don't be surprised if he reaches 16+

Anywho, jam, just so you know, mine is a Flatcoated retriever. Common enough to be able to get one easily, but rare enough so people don't know what it is. 8-)

They need decent training though. And they're known as the "peter Pan" of dogs as they constantly act like puppies. That's either a good or a bad thing, depending on your view.

Hmm.. I shall let my mum know! Cheers Aaron. The only thing is that my dad is now working abroad and my mum is going in a couple of months, so it would be me looking after the dog! We're not 100% sure what age Sox is TBH, as he was a rescue dog (beaten by a previous owner and ran away, we think :(), but as long as he has his health..

Certainly a beauty of a dog you have. I'd love to see some videos of people's dogs! Enough of the bloody cats. ;)

Cats are brilliant, dogs are annoying.

I have one cat, called Molly. She used to be a stray, but we took her in and she's brilliant.
