£360 on a new washing machine and paying to get the old one disposed of because it was broken beyond repair

It’s white and made by Beko and makes it so I don’t smell like badly hand washed clothes

Sigh

I also considered separates like a adecent amp paired with a pair of Bowers and Wilkins bookshelf speakers but it was looking at £1300.

Any kind of DSP is essentially providing EQ and other processing options to colour the music, but what you're talking about is probably multi-band compression.

With the volume up it will start to sound like mush, so there's not really any point. It's a forced output / max dB. So don't turn them up.

O right interesting. I noticed that anything above 80% volume sounds the same and it doesn't actually get louder. But happy with listening to it at 80% or less anyway :)

Yup that's basically what waveform compression is for in context. Levels out peaks and troughs in the amplitude / waveform to simulate a consistently "loud" signal - but from a sound engineering perspective, clarity is the goal.

"brick wall limiting" and creative use of compression (there are lots of kinds/algorithms/variations) - and this has nothing to do with MP3s etc btw - is built into quite a lot of things these days. Loudness equalisation for example, although that ought to be normalisation.

Google Home speakers for example use various processing to get more out of a small chassis and small, medium range speaker with basically zero bass.

Some laptops use Waves algorithms to beef up the audio beyond what the speaker can actually do, is another example. My small form factor Dell's "Dell Audio" does that, to be fair, it's quite useful. I just prefer a choice.

Any kind of compact speaker set up tends to do it now because DSPs i.e. small processors/CPUs are so cheap now, and cheaper than some materials / acoustical construction / speaker drivers themselves. I don't think there's a right or wrong way about it, if it sounds good it sounds good. I just wouldn't mix a record on them lol

Kinda like "movie" mode versus dynamic on a TV. Sure, insanely saturated colours and impossible whites might tickle the brain, but after a while in a more accurate mode, you get accustomed to more natural pictures and start to appreciate the nuances in realistic colour reproduction. If you get hooked on over the top contrast, or bass for example, it starts to make all pictures or music seem unimpressive. A bit sad.

So, basically what I'm saying is, don't do drugs.

Grabbed one of these for £150 New a Moto G73

I usually try to pay like £80 for any old second hand smart phone or refurb because I drop phones a lot due to my epilepsy, but actually decided id chance it out and spend a little more on something slightly better, I hope it pays off for me, I have instantly got it a Screen Protector and a tough case.

So this is a half purchased half made sort of thing.. I went to see Ghost Busters Frozen Empire at a special fan event where I got a poster and a few post cards and to take photos with a replica of the Ecto 1 and people in Ghostbusters Costumes so I decided to grab a Frame and make it into something for my wall..

It's one of the Elizabeth Line stations, not sure which as they use this design in all their main central zone stations.

Reminds me of Canada Water, my brother used to live there years ago.
