My username doesn’t actually refer to cats. I’m much more of a dog person. I’d make a joke about women but the wife sometimes reads the forum. :dread:

That was your first mistake - giving her permission to learn to read.

Scoop her eyes out with a spoon and you won't have this problem.

I know about the British Isles definition, and DNA is obviously a more accurate definition in this context, but Britain has as far as I'm aware always referred to England, Wales, Cornwall, Northern Ireland and in most cases Scotland but not most of the islands. When including Scotland it's typically "Great Britain" ie the right hand side of British Isles. However Ireland as a whole is not Britain (it's Ireland).

Yes the "British Isles" refers to all the Islands but the much more commonly used and politically relevant term of the U.K. refers to the centralised government and "kingdom" of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Most Irish and a lot of Scottish people resent the term "Britain" including all of Ireland and all of Scotland, which isn't really the case when you drill it down. My grandfather for example would always refer to "the Brits" (he was Scottish) and people from the Republic of Ireland would not generally call themselves British.

A geographical area isn't the same as a country. It's the same when people call "America" America when really they mean the USA, not two whole continents (although some people refer to the Americas as one continent).

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Like most things, we can blame the Greeks for all this naming confusion

Great Britain, or Britannia Major, is just the large right island of Scotland, Wales and England. Britannia Minor is not the left island of Republic of Island and Northern Ireland but the area of France currently called Brittany.

Ireland in all it's forms is a part of the British Isles but that's what you get when you're situated directly next to the empire that wrote the rule book for modern naming conventions.

British Isles comes from Greco-Roman geographers.

I signed up for Netflix yesterday; I cancelled a magazine subscription and put that money towards the cost. I've never had pay-TV before (beyond the standard TV licence) and, even at this early stage, I'm super-impressed! I had really wanted to see Better Call Saul series 4 and I'm now deep into it. I'm mainly watching via my tablet (as my living room TV is ancient) and it's slick; I like having a watch-list which I can build.

No pics but you can imagine the scene :datass: .

A while ago I strongly considered cancelling our Netflix subscription but recently they're really upped the quality of their output.

Alas, Kj, my PS4 isn't connected to my living room TV as it's an old 720p screen. But... the U has risen to prominence!

Specna Arms SA-C05. 8-)
And some G&G precision BBs I've not tried before (.025g and 0.28g)

Got all this today. It's going to be my backup rifle incase my main rifle gives up on any given day. Also good for lending to mates etc.

It's entry level gun, but still impressive to have a metal rail and silencer at this price point..
I love the way the silencer sits inside the free float rail.

Not strictly a purchase per se as i didn't actually have to pay for it, but this 50p arrived in the mail today. It was sent to me by a contact on the island of St Helena.

You hear a lot of hype surrounding some of the rarer 50p designs (kew gardens etc), yet this is probably one of the hardest of all to find due to the sheer remoteness of where it's from.
