theyre not 'bad' theyre just overpriced and not very good.
although i hear the noise-cancelling is very good so theres that at least

The "Bose are not very good" thing doesn't seem to be a thing any more going by the reviews I've read for their recent products. I made sure to read plenty for these ones before I bought them and they were all hugely positive about the sound quality. Never owned Bose headphones before but they sound better than the AKG and Beats I've used. They're comfy as strawberry float too, when I'm wearing my glasses they don't press them against my ear and get uncomfortable after long periods like other ones have.

Or you could just get a pair of Philips headphones like the pair i use with my TV, cost £15 approx and they've actually pretty decent.

I'm insulted you appear to have taken my post seriously

Oops.

My point still stands though. ;)

£279. Bought them with some of my bonus from work :toot:

If you can recommend me a pair for cheaper with comparable sound quality and noice cancelling then I'm all ears (I looked into the Sony MDR-1000X but these seemed to edge those in most departments)

£279 isnt bad; theres a lack of good choices in the noise-cancelling market

I'm never in the market for £300 odd cans so can't comment, I err on the side of caution with the super expensive brands and Dres can get tae strawberry float as they are legit awful in most cases but if I had money to burn or spent 90% of my time with cans on (well both circumstances) I wouldn't write a luxury brand off for fear of being a douchbag (except Dre's, there are no more douchy headphones than that, they literally annoy my eyeballs).

Totally agree wearability and comfort is important for headphones, I've worn some for 10 minutes and felt like I need to dig my ears off or put them in the fridge, others for hours and forgotten they are there. Guess which is better.

If you want isolation and decent sound quality but aren't wearing them for a long time then IEMs/in-ears work great, much more portable and discreet but they start to strawberry float with the pressure in your ears after a little while.

Broke the jack on my headphones so reminds me I should fix them, it's really nice getting properly lost in music like that. I'd need some in a busy work environment or I can barely function as my aural hypersensitivity is so bad.

And I seem to have lost my 2nd pair of CX300s (good disposable headphones for the money) and previously to that something similar to Shure E2Cs but slightly more upmarket, which were strawberry floating great, especially for clarity of electronic music and even contemporary rock. I miss them a lot. They strawberry floating fell out of my pocket while legging it for a train. Nothing worse than spending what is good money for you on something like that and never being able to justify a repurchase because the cause for loss was so strawberry floating stupid. That was about 7 years ago.

I guess it's harder to lose a proper pair, in fairness, I haven't, so £280 snoops isn't that much to spend on something that should give good service and enjoyment for many years. It's more like a yearly spend, like a mobile phone.

That's an idea actually, why don't audio companies offer contracts for headphones? They always crap out or fall out of favour anyway as the drivers age and musical tastes change, even your hearing changes.

You can spend a hell of a lot more on speakers. Headphones are literally just miniature speakers but trying to produce the highest dynamic range and audio spectrum in less space, which is really difficult. In that sense, it's by far the budget option!!

Its scary how expensive audio equipment can get, the £400 I paid for my desktop speakers is peanuts compared to the top end floorstanding ones some people have.

I bought some Vans and winter boots last week. The Vans I need for work as I'm on my feet pretty much all day and my current footwear isn't cut out for the job. (The shoes are but I hate round laces.) So on the recommendation of Starbreaker I got my first pair of Vans. Despite owning them for a number of days, I've not been able to wear them as I don't want to go out in 'em in the rain  The waterproof boots are to replace my old Karrimor's as even though they do the job and have plenty of tread left, the uppers are looking ragged as hell. Won't be leaving these ones out in the open when not being used!

They're noise cancelling headphones. I was in the market for them a few months back*, and going by reviews I read the Bose and Philips variety were the best by a mile. Both cost a bomb but if you want to completely cancel out unwanted sounds then they're your best bet. (They function as regular headphones too, of course.) The most up to date Bose noise cancelling headphones can often be found going for in excess of £300!

*Thanks to a neighbour being unable to wake up in the middle of the night without announcing it by slamming doors, etc.

Yeah the newer version of the pair I got are £50-60 dearer and the only real difference seems to be that it adds Google Assistant support and different levels of noise cancellation.
