Try the real upmarket places for discounts that bring sale prices to that of John Lewis or whatever. Selfridges usually has some homeware reductions.

Good idea, thanks guys!

These ones seem to be really highly rated and are a strong contender, i'm just trying to do some comparisons as it's tricky when you can't go into a store to feel them.

Actually, if you live in an area where the shops are still open, you might be able to find some decent brand name towels at reduced prices in the carcass which was once known as Debenhams.

Plumped for this in the end:

Tended to be really high on a lot of "best towel" lists that people have bothered to make for losers like me! Got two bath sheets and a hand towel coming to help me live the life of luxury.

Not one for me as I'm pouring money into printers these days but I have an old towel from some presumably fancy English brand from when I was a kid. Basically before my family bottomed out we were better off (I'm talking about 5 years old so I have no memory), either that or my mum just "got" towels, and had some fancy linen and so on. Developed an emotional attachment to it but it's still soft, not remotely threadbare, hasn't lost it's colour and has held up for about 20 years which is madness, and it's about the only towel I can get dry with in a couple of seconds as I really struggle due to my nervous system transferring in and out of hot/cold, for me that's like the worst thing ever. It's the loop back stitching, weight and consistency that just gets you dry faster.

I had a matching hand towel, unfortunately that went missing at unviversity, so some bigger kept it and it still bothers me.

A good towel therefore isn't a bad investment as a lot of them go stiff for some reason or are ridiculously small.

I have a towel that was 45 years old in October (parents' wedding present).

I must lead a sheltered life because I had no idea that you could buy (pretty ropey-looking) trainers for that much dough. From the same website:

£200. For that cack. Incredible.

And I can tell you with quite some degree of confidence that those are wholesale blank apparel goods that cost a few quid to manufacture. Can usually tell by the way the fabric labels are stitched in.

Btw I just spent 2 grand on a T-shirt printer so anyone want to send me £20,000 to print whatever you want on a T-shirt, much appreciated k thnx

I do love looking at this gooseberry fool you guys find though

They're marked as hand wash as well, so they can't even warrant the durability... Obviously they expect you to wear in once because it's just one in your walk-in room wardrobe full of designer goods.

I can tell you, as a literal designer, that kind of thing is a total waste of money. I mean there's leather and actual gold and silver and gooseberry fool like that which can sometimes be an investment and then there's a screen printed T-shirt one of 1,000 sold for a 10,000% markup
