I have a candy cane tree decoration bought from Tiffany in New York. It was £50ish. But, that’s a lifetime investment. I’ll pass it on to someone special eventually. It’s tradition to buy a new ornament for the tree every anniversary and this was our 5th so quite special. I’ll probably drop some ostentatious amount on this years decoration since it’s our first Christmas as husband and wife.

Recently bought: Dropped about 4 days wage in Waitrose on the finest Christmas foods and booze. But I chucked some advent calendars into the food bank for the less fortunate.

Not even close.

£600 for tree and decorations/£50 on a single item?

No, £50 on something nice you probably won't get another chance to buy is perfectly fine.

I still regret not buying an awesome Gaudi chess set in Barcelona a few years ago, it was around £250 and would have blown most of my remaining money so I decided not to buy it.

I regret not buying a decent chef knife in japan but we decided a fancy dinner would be worth it for the experience. We can buy knives later.

You can sharpen a reasonably priced knife with a good whetstone however, the only difference is you might have to sharpen it more often. Actually softer Iron/steel is sometimes considerered better as it's faster and easier to hone between uses.

Investing in a good set of knives was one of the best things we did a few years back. The experience of working with a sharp, reliable blade is just so different to hacking away with a cheap alternative.

I don't know what you mean.

Incidentally, anyone know the best way to remove bloodstains from clothing? Just asking for a friend... :shifty:

Saltwater, and don't scrub as that breaks down the blood cells.

I bought a Japanese Xbox 360 and 40 games. :fp:

Now I have to find out what the games actually are and sort them by quickest completion on TrueAchievements.

Didn’t realise that 90% of the XBOX Japanese market share was MHTL.

All of them, that was kind of the point! Many of them are 'visual novels' which are typically easy completions, I knocked out the first of these today in about 45 minutes. :-)

On Christmas Eve I'm going to cut him in half, cover him in jam and put him in the cat's basket.
