And that's my richest family, aunt and uncle (about 2 million in assets at the time). They lived in what most would describe as a small castle.

It's a very very expensive wallet dude, enjoy it. I love leather products, I have a secret obsession with bags (I only have about 8 really and most of them just have gear in all the time), but none of them cost even 10% of that. Now I'm going even cheaper as I'm hooked up with blank apparel suppliers that make up a huge proportion of the retail industry that is literally just rebranded screen printed or some applique etc. and wham 1000% profit.

I got it because I like the famous bug eye design from FENDI. If it wasn't FENDI then I wouldn't have wanted it. I assume the leather is top quality too but to me thats secondary. Doesn't feel as solid as wallets from Louis Vuitton though, their canvas are very very sturdy.

I am interested in good quality low cost leather products so feel free to link me to any.

Green Gecko wrote:Holy strawberry floating crap dude, I could make that stuff for under £300. Get to know a good leatherworker if you're going to spend that much on a high street chain.

I'm kind of serious, why not support independent craftspeople, so you can get something unique? Nobody cares the shopfront it came out of :(

That's literally over 60% of my rent I paid yesterday. On the south coast. In a historic town. On the high street.

I'm happy you enjoy buying these things but I'm equally sad knowing how much it actually costs to make all this stuff.

Edit; Actually you've kind of motivated me to get on with my work in the shop rather than checking GR for new posts, and to build my brand, so thanks for that..

Like the cap I bought the other day. 100% cotton, pigment died, really welled hemmed, stiff 3 layer brim, triple stitched. Made in China like most "premium" brands. £2.80. £2.80. I can stick an embroidered patch on that and charge, what, £50, £75, £100?

Because that's honestly how it works, it's utterly insane.

Unfortunately 99% of people don't give two gooseberry fools about the things you've just mentioned and just buy the brand. Two of the 3 pics were of the bag and shop which should tell you enough about why he really bought it.

I got a £70 Lancel wallet for holiday last week, but I got it for £6 because my dodgy girlfriend swapped the price sticker from another wallet onto it for me. What an angel she is.

I have a pink Mr Weebl purse I bought at an expo for a tenner about 5 years ago, and it's still good.

My last wallet was an Irish wacky woolies design, it was great, lasted for around 7 years and i only needed to replace it as it had become so filthy, it probably contained more bacteria than the darkest dankest corner of the underground toilets at Leicester Square.

I should probably change my wallet soon. Mine looks like it's formed a new lifeform now.

My wallet is Golunski, apparently. Probably cost about a tenner? I'm quite particular with wallet designs as most aren't functional enough for me - I need a fold for notes, a fold for receipts, a zip or button compartment for coins (preferably 2 like I have now, one for coppers and silvers and one for pound coins), room for my cards with a separate display for my id, and top it all off with a button to keep the whole thing closed.

The number of wallets that don't have anywhere for coins baffle me. If I just kept change loose in my pocket I'd lose it all the time.

I always buy Golla because I like plenty of room for cards, driving licence, receipts, notes etc, a zip part for coins and something so I can attach my house keys and car key to it

Actually I probably need a new wallet, it looks a mess but it’s not meant to be stylish and I need to lose some key rings

I use a metal card holder because wallets are gooseberry fool and only encourage you to horde receipts and random scraps of paper. Also, keeping coins in a wallet is stupid and people who do it should stop immediately.

When youre out and about and get change you put it in your pocket, then when you get home you put it in a piggy bank of some kind to cash in later. Noone should leave the house with a pocket full of coins jingling away, change for the bus/train/supermarket trolley is acceptable but only bring exactly what you need for that transaction.

Having a few coins in my wallet does not inconvenience me in any way and is occasionally handy if I need to use a vending machine.

Can someone explain exactly why it bothers them? I don't jingle fwiw.

Cos you have a pile of metal in your pocket, or worse a pile of metal making your wallet bulge. Noone needs all that coinage on their person at all times. A few coins for things that need them is grand but people keeping all their change with them is nutty.
