This seems like a good place and point to ask. I have 9 Nelson £5 coins and it appears they are worth just face value. Am I safe to just cash them in? I don't collect or anything.

Not sure it's worth even that to be fair.

Not sure if it's actually possible to cash them in.

It was at one time, but then this happened and the resulting fallout changed things...

I think I spent a commemorative millennium dome £5 at woolworths once. I'm assuming the £5 coin with the trumpets on is actually a coin though.

Ah ok, thanks. Maybe I'll be lucky as it's only a small amount.

Nice. I got back into this big time this year, although it's taken a long time to get the right painting setup going. You could have saved some money not getting GW-brand glue though. I guess you've got a craft knife/clippers for getting them off the sprue cleanly?

Funny I was thinking of getting on with some this weekend too. I'm still nowhere close to finishing my Tyranid army and then I started some genstealer cult models as well based on random models I have, some vintage and just tonnes of standard genestealer models (the ones from the original Space Hulk). I don't really like genstealers but I like the idea of mutated alien human religious slaves.

Don't really need to thin, maybe the basecoats but not the layers. I generally just wet the brush with my lips anyway so there's a good trace of DNA on all of my models.

If you want to use thin paints get Vajello which are already semi formulated for airbush (and there are airbrush ones called vajello air). They match the old citadel colours you are familiar with (which they have changed and expanded so many times it's a mindfuck just selecting one) and are arguably better anyway.

I also have a mate who set up a gaming parlour in Brighton (Dice Saloon, it's huge) who do good prices, it's nice to pop in from time to time to see what's going on with the hobby but jesus christ it literally reeks when kids are in there.

Anyone had dealings with Royal Mail's claims before?

I was sending my mobile phone for repair (insured) and the buggers have lost it on a Next Day by 1Pm recorded delivery.

I've filled in the form for lost and I'm hoping I'll get compensation but I feel I'm going to get a few blips.

They asked me to prove the VALUE of my phone. Now I found it on Argos.co.uk, and I sent them a print screen of that, price £399 for a Samsung Galaxy S8.

You can buy this phone for anything between 300 and 500(if you're a mug) so i felt this was reasonable.

Do you recon this will be enough evidence to get enough money to buy one of these? Will it be enough evidence to get anything at all? Should I maybe find my actual receipt of when i bought the phone over a year ago? (which would take me some good time).

Also of course I'd also paid £25 for my phone to be fixed by the insurers and it'll never reach them, do you recon there is something I can do with my insurance company maybe? (not a post question I know). Change my status from broken/damages to lost/stolen perhaps?

Cheers for any Wisdom.

I think you have to wait a long time before a claim is considered, something like 21 days after the date it should have arrived.

The original receipt or a bank transaction is better because it proves not only its value but that you owned one. Their insurance will be underwritten by some insurance broker who will want evidence of value, they might offer a like for like replacement or a cash settlement. Anyhows don't epect it to happen overnight and you might get a phone call or two.

As for the repair company, no idea, try emailing them with your job number to tell them it's gone missing. They might refund you or they might hold onto the money to fund return postage if it does show up (in which case it's needing repairing anyway).

I've posted business stuff all over the world with Royal Mail, and I don't usually use tracking. Unlucky man.

They did once lose a £220 audio recorder however on special delivery.

When I got my Vive, it was when it was still full price, so I turned to eBay to save a bit and got one for £100 less than retail price at £700 ish. It was sent to me ROYAL mail guaranteed delivery and it never turned up. Thank strawberry float I paid with PayPal and they got me my other back within a month or so, becuase royal mail were strawberry floating useless. You could track and see it had gone to a sorting hub and vanished. All k got from their end was a letter saying they were investigating, but nothing ever came of it. That was me as the recipient though, not the sender.
