The Thatcher/Falklands War stuff in the Crown reminds me of that Eddie Izzard standup where the reason Hitler decided to go mad & kill everyone was because he got frustrated that a tree he was painting didn't come out right.

It works in a comedy show, but the Crown is so po-faced & serious it becomes unintentionally hilarious.
