Got my eye on this one. It'll probably beat me into the ground and leave me for dead, but - my - it looks gorgeous.

There's a Casual Auto difficulty mode which should be more suited to your tastes, Cal.

I finally cancelled this today. They processed it in about 20 minutes.

Cue angry complaint from me. :x

The same thing happened to me once with an order from Gamestation. It's not an accident, the cheeky blighters.

This is £17.99 on Zavvi at the moment

I couldn't miss it at that price.

What's the difference between the steel book edition and the non-steel book edition? Bar the obvious thing of one having a metal case and the other not. In other words are there any other differences?

Got stuck into Vanquish tonight, wow

I could not really appreciate Bayonetta, mainly because I was utter pants, so I missed out on its true qualities, but Vanquish I seem to get along with. I can power boost along the floor, hit slow mode and shotgun my prey or melee who ever almost at will. Its a joy to play so far.

The game really looks nice, I can't believe thiers so much sh*t going on and the game pulls it off, even the cutscenes are a joy.

So far, its a very enjoyable ride and puts a smile on your face when you pull off something fancy looking :)

Got my £10 copy from Amazon on Monday and finished it this afternoon (on normal naturally). It wasn't really clicking with me up until about Act 3 when I just suddenly got really good and realised how easy it was to down some of the bigger baddies if you knew the right tactics and could pull them off. Final boss was a bit of a let down though - It's an older boss, only now there's two! :| This may have been explained in the story, but tbh I wasn't really following that too carefully. Seemed usual Japanese nonsense. Oh and I can see why this hasn't been very successful over here.

My £12.85 copy arrived from Simply Games today. Very impressed, considering Royal Mail are in bits.
Anyway, playing through the first Act now. Is it normal to feel utterly overwhelmed, yet be absolutely loving this?
It's like I know I am able to do cool stuff, I just have no idea how at the mo'. I'm playing it like Gears, and I know I shouldn't.
Sod knows how the upgrade system works either. Something about picking ammo up when you're full, or something. Maybe I should read the manual. :D

Just finished Act 2 on this.

It's really good stuff. The story seems complete hokum but the gameplay is slick and enjoyable. Good stuff. Well worth the bargain prices for it right now.

Anyone who's done this: Do you keep upgrades for other playthroughs? Going though first time on Hard and imagining how bad-ass I will be on Normal if you do. Cheers.
Oh, and is the statue thing a bit hit and miss registering? I'm sure I've shot some but my stats don't count them at the end of a chapter.

Yes, but then you get used to how fast everything is and realize the game allows you to do batshit crazy stuff.

Burns is my favourite video game character this year. So strawberry floating badass.

I'm about half way through Act 4 now.. really good stuff. It's frantic really. I can't see what I'm doing, I have no idea what's going on but I'm loving it

Finally going to be playing this tomorrow. Having bought it when it first came out I didn't have time to play so thought I would save it as a special Christmas gift for myself. Can't flippin' wait!

Started and finished this a few days ago. I would describe it as Gears of War on triple speed with a Mass Effect feel.

I found it ok, fast, frantic and a bit of fun but nothing that was going to have long term appeal.

Took me 3 hrs work work through the first Act on Hard but got frustrated with the last Boss Guy and then switched to Casual and blasted through the rest of the game in 4-5 hrs. So it felt a little short in the end. I paid £18 for it and still felt a little cheated with the amount of gameplay I got out of it.

Dialogue, story and cut-scenes were pretty lame to be honest. I didn't have multi-player modes either so loses a point for lack of value.

Best bit of the game were the huge Boss Monster fights, enjoyed those.

Overall it was ok but not great and probably a bit over-rated. 7/10 at best for me.

I've started on Hard, and I reckon it's teaching me what is possible with the combat. I'm also dying a lot, but not without wanting to get straight back in again. I think it's a wonderful game - as mentioned in the Edge issue thread, Platinum make games that are FUN and reward a gamer's determination to improve themselves by making it even more FUN.
It's also having a massive side-effect in that I want to play Bayonetta again.

Well that was all a bit of fun.

I'm in the "nothing stunning but good" camp". I wouldn't want to pay more than bargain for it but it's fun - utter nonsense but great fun and it has the gameplay which is the main thing.
