Hi Photek

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

Did you ditch the PS2 as soon as the Xbox was released?

Pretty much, It had Halo, Halo 2 and Xbox Live.

I didnt get Xbox on release, I got it about 5months after cos I was looking at review after review of Halo being hailed (at the time) the second coming.

Just found this list of exclusive (some timed) PS2 games for the end of 2001. Will we ever see anything like this again?

I just hated the N64 pad, that and the games were ridiculously expensive, I had to buy most of mine pre-owned.

Anyway, I voted for Ridge Racer, RR Type 4 was just so damn good.

Ridge Racer was my second favourite driving game of the console generation, closely following...

Flock off, featherface. My responses were to the lineup collectively to that point.

On Thursday it'll be 20 years since the PlayStation launched in the UK.

Any launch memories?

Great bump, Nick, although I believe the console launched 29 September in the UK.

I was fortunate to get a console at launch thanks to a zero percent interest deal on offer from Beatties. My pack contained the console, controller, memory card, Ridge Racer and stereo speakers. I was blown away by Ridge Racer; I felt like I had an arcade machine. The system felt like a huge leap forward and the cool black discs and the memory card use really added to that futuristic experience. My second game was Destruction Derby as I was totally amazed by the graphics on a store demo unit.

It was an amazing machine with an incredible library of greats. It really was the first gaming machine that was (almost) cool, making it okay to admit that you played videogames.

I still have the games albeit I haven't played them for a few years now. I wouldn't get rid of 'em.

Bloody hell, taking the day off work on that day! The only memories i have were everyone at school talking about playstation, tekken etc and i got a sega saturn as thats all i wanted.

A good few months later and a trip to computer exchange i got a ps1 with resident evil. My early memories weren't actually that great and it was only until much later on did i enjoy the console! So many great gaming memories...gran turismo, final fantasy 7 and iss pro!!!

They fully deserve to lead the industry, because they made it. Without playstation i doubt many of us would be gaming, so we should respect sony for that! Thank you sony!

I remember seeing this advert and wondering why Sony and Panasonic were bothering to get into gaming...

Seriously thought it would flop and was only interested in the N64 and Saturn (later opting for the latter following N64's delay).

The man speaks the truth, the PlayStation is as significant as the NES when it comes to the survival of the medium and mainstream adoption.
