Cos it’s the market leader.

1TB hDD is enough if you have decent broadband speeds.

The Pro is good for more grunt. But if you prefer you can always get the standard as it’s cheaper. 4K isn’t the most impressive, it’s HDR really.

Spider-Man, Days Gone, Uncharted 1-4/Lost Legacy, Resident Evil 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, shadow of the colussus, God of War, Last of Us Remastered, Yakuza series, Judgement, Red Dead Redemption 2, Until Dawn,

But it's really easy to put a cheap 2TB one if you want. Even Hexx managed it. Although he was really scared...he now realises he needn't have been

+1 Buy the Yakuza games. Start with 0.

I'd also recommend not waiting for PS5 as if you haven't played a PS4 yet there's an entire gens worth of fantastic content.

Plus is like Xbox Live Gold, required for online play and you get 2 games every month included which need adding to your library before they replace them with the following months selection of games. They are yours to keep as long as you have an active PS Plus sub.

PS+ you need for most online elements games.

You also get 1-2 games "free" monthly (This month is Detroit, Heay Rain and some racing game, last month was all the Borderland games).

You need to "buy" them for free from the store in the month they're on offer - but then they're in your iibrary forever. (If you sub ends, you lose access...until you resub)

The sub is quite pricey (and you don't need for Spiderman) but the online stuff of games is generally good.
It's on offer a fair bit (e.g. Amazon) and you can "stack"

You can buy from other regions I believe, but it's convoluted.

Yeah I picked up a 12 month sub for £34.99, just under £3 a month seems like a decent enough deal, at full price I would have been a bit more cautious.

I'll probably not bother with buying from other regions then, it was worth it on Switch as it's really easy to do (and gotta find any way to bring down that Switch tax! )

First impressions:

Love the console itself - a nice design that isn't too big, sits nicely under the TV! (although what happened to being able to stand consoles vertically!?)

The controller is much improved since I was last in the Sony camp for the PS2 generation, altough the sticks are still in the wrong place! Speaker in the controller is a nice touch.

PS+ seems cool, some nice discounts on a few of the games I was interested in so that's a good bonus

Who the hell designed the UI? SO MUCH CRAP GOING ON! I'm sure I'll adapt to it but it seems very crowded and unintuitive at the moment. Took me about 10 minutes just to find the setting to require password entry for purchases.

Between the PSN setup (where some arse face has stolen my name!) and system updates I didn't get to play much in the way of games yet though!

Why are the download speeds so slow on PSN? I get ~75Mbps on Steam but the PS4 seems to be going at about 10-15!

Have you got a hard wired connection, that helps.

Also, you can stand it vertical if you like

I've tried wired and wireless and it doesn't seem to make much difference unfortunately!

I've stood it up but the blurb from Sony makes it very clear you should be using the official vertical stand to achieve such a configuration!
