Apologies if already posted, but Capcom Arcade Stadium is now available and although you pay to add game packs, it comes with 1943 for free, a shooter I always enjoyed...

I don't think this has been mentioned here before but I just noticed that, back in April, Sony reported that the PlayStation 4 had recorded total game sales of 1.577 billion, exceeding the 1.537 billion games sold on the PlayStation 2.

What an absolute monster the PS4 has been! Personally I think I would place it as my all-time favourite console; I've so enjoyed the huge range of games and it's still currently my main system.

I've had such a bizarre relationship with my PS4 with so many issues around the console itself and drifting controller, but I've also had plenty of fun with games like Bloodborne and Horizon too!

Yeah, you seemed to be very unfortunate in how you had so many issues, dude! It's probably little consolation but I feel that such incidents are relatively rare; touch wood, I haven't had any problems with three PS4 systems, the controllers or PSVR! Hopefully you'll get the rub of the green with your PS5 :-).

Yeah I've definitely been unlucky! I think I've now had my PS5 for longer than it took for the PS4 to start playing up so it's already a more positive story for me this time!

It's a strange situation as I've still yet to buy any actual PS5 games but between the library I've built up over the 2 years I had the PS4 and the "PS Plus Collection" that they gave away with the 5 the new system is really letting me appreciate some of the great games that came out in the last generation!

Just turned my PS4 on to be met with a "Cannot start PS4. Please insert a USB stick containing firmware 9.03 or later" error :dread:

And I've now discovered that the PS4 only uploads cloud saves when it's in rest mode, and even then only if you're playing on your primary console :lol:

I've had it from launch. Heck.

Gonna get the hard drive out and see if I can find any software to try and salvage anything that's still readable on it. Gonna be a weird few days without it...

Now I'm kinda wishing I'd bought the "cosmetic marks, no base, no controller" PS5 I saw on amazon earlier for £337...

I had my PS4 come up with what sounds like a similar error a while back - it was a real pain in the ass to get it sorted but eventually I did manage to get it back in working order. Basically had to download an update file to a USB stick and then convince the console to actually recognise it and reinstall.

We lost a lot of good saves that day :cry:

Really don't want to have to wipe the hard drive, so I've got a new one turning up later I'll try and plug in and see if the console boots up with that bad boy, then it's a case of trying to find some recovery software (although it sounds like a lot of it is keyed to the console itself so it might not be transferrable :dread:

Online games should save progress server side at least right?

Pro-tip. When your crappy stick drift monster of a PS4 controller now starts to develop problems in BOTH analog sticks and you're feeling angry and frustrated that such a piece of crap was allowed past the design phase and just want the bloody thing to work and so you head to the tool box once again to spray more strawberry floating WD40 contact cleaner on the thing in the hope that it is able to coax more life out of the piece of Sony trash but you're also incredibly tired from having been woken up in the middle of the night by children and small animals so you're not exactly firing on all cylinders mentally speaking: don't accidentally spray bike degreaser on the thing because the can looks similar to your tired, bleary eyes as it REALLY doesn't achieve good results...

RIP DualShock 4, you were gooseberry fool.
