PlayStation 4 Chat III: You've Never Seen Chat Like It

One of us is bound to uncover something at some point. The PSN store link on their website just takes you through to the iam8bit store.

Does any PS4 Pro owners have bother getting the thing to download stuff at the speed it’s supposed to? I upgraded my internet today, but for some reason the PS4 Pro is just not wanting to download at the speed I’ve paid for. My Xbone X does, my iPhone does, but...what gives?
I wouldn’t care so much but I’m downloading strawberry floating Avengers patches every week, then having to sit through that ‘copying’ bollocks.

Wired of WiFi? I always use wired and my PS4 downloads were very speedy. Also, have you tried the pause unpause trick? That sometimes gave a slow download a bit of a boost on PS4 for some reason. Um, any media apps open when downloading?

WiFi. ‘Testing the connection’ option so nowt to pause. Nothing else open.

If possible, switch to wired. I think a ps4 download went for 5 hours on Wi-Fi to 45 minutes wired.

Yeah I found WiFi speeds to be crap on my PS4 Pro (plus it would disconnect quite frequently for some reason) but wired made a big difference

PS4 Wifi is abysmal, I don't know what corner they cut on it but my Pro is so bad.

Your download speed is also going to be limited by the PS servers which I'm not sure have ever really been good

Running ethernet to our PS4 wasn't an option so got a cheap powerline extender kit and plugged it in to the socket closest to the console. The difference was like night and day - PS Now suddenly worked a dream and download times were significantly reduced. Makes me think that the PS4 is just really weak at picking up the wi-fi. Best 30 quid I've spent in a long time.

Is your PS4 on 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency band?

Try to change to 5GHz to see if it's any better.

It may well be this that’s the problem, I’ll check and let y’all know.
