Sony allow a lot of freedom to their devs, so I wouldn't write-off Ghosts being a very hard game / just being the usual easy going cinematic experience. (Though that's what I expect and hope it will be :slol:)

Based on what little we've seen, Ghost looks to take a more realistic approach so the difficulty is hard to gauge. Since you can do one hit strikes, or full on combat. Almost has this For Honor style to it which I like.

Imagine if they do what many people want From Software to do: an easy mode in a Souls-alike :o

I feel like with a game like this, it makes sense to have the option. God of War had a mode that let you enjoy the story which I can see Ghost trying to an extent.

The Queen of valkiryes in God of War was the only time I dropped down to easy.

And she isn’t a cakewalk either on Easy. :slol:

Metal Gear question: Is it worth playing Ground Zeroes before The Phantom Pain? I've borrowed a copy of the latter but it doesn't include the former (it's not the definitive version).

Yes because Ground Zeroes is better

Ground Zeroes is definitely worth playing first, it lends some context and is a great self contained playground for most of the core gameplay mechanics that make up The Phantom Pain.

That's annoying. It's quite hard to acquire by itself, seems like it'll cost me around £15 whatever I do and I understand it's only an hour or two long?

The "main story" of it is pretty short yeah, although it depends on how you approach things. There are lots of side missions to do though which add variety and length, I had a lot of fun with Ground Zeroes.

There is a ton of replayability in Ground Zeroes, I put dozens of hours into it. If you only do the main mission once it's very short, but there is a lot more to see in the game than that.

Having said that, by the same logic saying you should play Ground Zeroes before Phantom Pain, you should also play Peace Walker before Ground Zeroes...

And 3 before Peace Walker...

It's got a few scenarios on the same map which change things up and add some replay value.

I'm not sure if it's applicable but if you've had your PS4 a while and you're the kind of person who adds every PS+ title, you might already own a copy. If not and you're not in any rush, it's usually £3.29 in the sales on the PS Store and I imagine they'll have one for Black Friday in a few weeks.

The Definitive Edition contains both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain and has gone cheap plenty of times before.

Guerrilla Games' Hermen Hulst is PlayStation's new head of Worldwide Studios
He takes over Shawn Layden's very senior role. Shuhei Yoshida moved to Indies.

PlayStation has named Guerrilla Games managing director and co-founder Hermen Hulst as its new head of Worldwide Studios.
He starts the role immediately and will manage all of Sony's game development across its 14 internal studios.
Meanwhile, Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida will leave his current role to lead a new initiative that will look after and nurture external, smaller independent studios.
The changes are part of Sony Interactive Entertainment's restructuring ahead of the launch of PS5. It also comes a month after the departure of Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, PlayStation CEO and president Jim Ryan said that Hulst's appointment will prove Sony is very much thinking globally as it moves into the next generation.
"Hermen is a European who will be taking one of the major offices at PlayStation," he said. "I think everybody in Europe should be thrilled and happy and proud that that is happening."
He continued in a statement: "Hermen is one of the most effective and well-respected leaders in the video game industry. He is a passionate advocate for the teams he leads and understands how to empower creative talent to build great experiences. I have no doubt Hermen can lead our teams to deliver compelling and diverse experiences at a steady cadence."

Holy strawberry float. Shuhei got nerfed. Congrats to Hermen.

So much for PS US taking over / doesn't care about indies.

I did wonder that too. But he stopped being head of WWS when Shawn Layden took over. Former Sony indie partners guy Shahid Kamal Ahmad who commissioned NMS thinks its a great move for Yoshida.

Going back to Ground Zero for a second.
I enjoyed MGS5 But never got into it due to how strawberry floatin' vast it was.

Is ground zero more like a fun little sandbox?
A bit like MGS2: Tanker?

Ground Zeroes is a very small and dense sandbox - it's the approach MGSV's mostly empty maps should have taken. MGS2's tanker is probably a good comparison to make, yeah.

The gameplay isn't /quite/ as refined as MGSV, but it's in very little tweaks like the exact behaviour of being prone on your back, nothing significant.
