I am really hoping it comes to Switch, I much prefer handheld gaming these days that being sat in front of a TV

Might dig the Vita out over the weekend and give it a try

ITSMILNER wrote:Do any of you use Remote Play as a means to play your PS4 games? I’ve got my old launch vita that I’ve not touched for years but was thinking of trying to play my PS4 games via Remote Play. Just wondered what people’s experience with it was like and if it’s an actual viable way to play my PS4 games rather than locked to a TV

It was my motivation for buying a Vita, but it never quite panned out. Combination of a touch of lag, along with lack of extra shoulder buttons, rendered it a bit of a waste of time. I preferred it on my Xperia phone using a Dualshock and cradle for the phone.

Christ yes. Though, again, can only imagine the lag might kill it.

Pretty sure Astrobot uses it really well, though I might be confusing it with Playroom, the free camera game. My kid loves playing with that. When you hoover up the alien robots, you can hear and feel them all rattling round inside the controller. I realise that's literally designed as a demo of what the controller can do, so not really a fair example.

Agreed on Vita remote play being hamstrung by the lack of second shoulder buttons. It was so close to being great.

I used it for Persona 5 and Digimon Cyber Sleuth, where the shoulder buttons weren't crucial for normal gameplay. It had some screen tearing and pretty bad artifacting when the connection wobbled, but other than that it was a pleasant experience.

Witcher 3 was absolutely abysmal, though.

Get a free The Last of Us II dynamic theme by redeeming the code "9DEK-PKNG-N445" in the PlayStation Store (UK).

It seems to take a while to accept but then it goes through.

Hee!

The cool aspect is that the picture changes between those day/night images in accordance with the time on your PS4 :-) .

I got 150mb broadband last year and now most games reach the ready-to-play state in about 20 mins (or 30 if I download them all at once). I used to leave it going overnight...

Weird thing: since my PS+ expired, I've felt the urge to fire up the PS4 a lot more strongly. In fact, I had a few goes on PES again, and have been browsing my library to see what I've got that's worth going back to.

I think my 'gotta catch 'em all' approach to the PS+ titles was leaving me with a very daunting game collection. Fortunately, those PS+ games are now not showing in my download list on the web store, so I can go through and look at the stuff I've actually paid for (and since deleted from the HDD) far more easily.

This year I'm aiming to spend very little on games and I'm hoping to actually get a lot of my backlog cleared. Cancelling PS+ was, it seems, an important first step. What remains to be seen is whether I end up paying money for any of the PS+games I've now lost.

It's good that you're back on the PS4 and enjoying games again, Poser. I feel that sometimes taking a little break and playing stuff from a smaller pool of games works better for me, too.

Anyone playing Hunt:Showdown? It looks amazing. Don’t really use the PS4 these days but tempted to get back in business for this. Looks like a cross between Bloodborne, Left 4 Dead and PUBG.
