So after this month's terrible (for me) PS Plus games I thought I'd have a look at what's in my library and gave Bloodborne another crack. First tried it when it was the Plus game a couple of years ago and while I sort-of liked it a bit (in the way that you never really start off liking Soulsborne games) I fell off it in the forbidden woods, partly due to a bad character build (The game's so bad at explaining stuff I was evenly spreading my level up stats) and partly due to a very unforgiving and confusing area.
I've started again and am sort-of using a bit of a guide (I tend to explore areas myself then go back and read a guide to the area afterwards). Followed the advice to go for a strength-vitality build so I can hit hard and survive attacks and I must say, it's definitely got its hooks in me this time. The level design (bar the Forbidden Woods) is superb at how it all fits together with unlocable shortcuts. The gameplay loop of "explore the new area and get your arse handed to you" to slowly mastering it and unlocking the shortcuts through, the strawberry floating weird and obtsue story. I can even appreciate how mean it is to the player on gameplay mechanic and area progression signposting.
I've just got to come to terms with the fact that for me to enjoy this type of game I need to use a guide a bit. Just like when I was a kid with Zelda.
As an old Scottish distiller told me when I went on a tour once - "If you like your whisky with a dram of water - you have your whisky with a dram of water".
Sony unveils PlayStation Studios brand to launch alongside PS5 Check out the video that will open upcoming first-party PlayStation games
Sony has developed a new umbrella brand to unite its first-party PlayStation titles.
The PlayStation Studios brand will go live alongside PlayStation 5 later this year, and will only be used on games developed and managed by Sony.
Sony's PS4 games will also carry the PlayStation Studios branding, but it won't be ready in time for the launch of The Last of Us: Part II or Ghosts of Tsushima, which are both due to arrive this summer. It will also miss the launch of Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC, although Lempel says that any future games it releases on other platforms will also carry the branding.
