I’d be amazed if they haven’t fast-tracked a load of mid-budget titles or some ports to quickly fill the gaps. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a Sackboy 2. Maybe they’ll pull the retro strings and we will get a remaster of Jumping Flash.

Already exists, but another one would be nice. They need more PSVR2 games.

Yes, I am being deliberately obtuse.

Never got a Vita though. Regret missing that one. :(

I've been playing a bunch of PSP this year - so far Brothers in Arms: D-Day, Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, Tomb Raider Legend, Loco Roco, Metal Gear Acid, and Splinter Cell Essentials. Not played any of those games before and enjoyed them all.

I was also on holiday last week and I took my Vita to play Hitman Go and Ys I & II Chronicles (which is a PSP game).

Both consoles are excellent

What the difference between a showcase and a state of play?

Showcases are usually bigger and involve first party titles. State of Plays usually involve third party titles more. But I don't think it's a hard and fast rule.

Nothing major left this fiscal year they told shareholders.

I think there's smaller stuff like the Until Dawn remake coming.

Fingers crossed Sony have some big gooseberry fool in the bag for the coming few years because otherwise I think the PS5 is nailed on for being the worst generation of PlayStation in terms of the game library

It's very unappealing so far. Even some of the games that piqued my early interest, from devs I admire, such as Returnal, are now on PC... and now I have a PC I still haven't got Returnal yet.

I've normally got serious FOMO by this point in any Sony console's life (I bought every previous one, including PSP and Vita) but I'm just not feeling it. And it's not my age because Switch 2 will be a day 1 purchase for me.

It has been a strange generation so far and I feel that much of this is due to a combination of -

> Slow start: COVID impacts really did a number on production and availability.
> Costs and pricing : "AAA" dev costs are now crazy and game pricing is often crazy, too. £70+ per game isn't mass market pricing; the economy just isn't good enough to warrant this in most countries.

This has caused developers to lower risk and market fewer games; with variety taking a hit. Plus the bigger publishers often want ongoing spend; one-off purchases are a becoming a no-no for the bosses.

Despite this, I feel that the PS5 is a cracking system and I've been impressed with the games I have bought. Hopefully this will be a long generation so that we get the most out of it.
