I think I've hit upon the reason as to why I have barely used my PS5. It's my eyesight.

For years, I've been used to playing games sat at my desk and I'm very close to the (24" 1080p) screen. With the PS5 setup under my living room TV (43" 4k), I'm around seven feet away from the screen and I find myself sitting forward on the edge of the sofa all the time. Watching TV programmes is fine but games often have (tiny) text and symbols to read.

I have some different glasses for "long distance" so I'll try them out - I want to be comfortably sat back on the sofa rather than hunched forward.

Tl;dr My PS5 is gonna collect dust as I use my PS4 for many more years.

Ideal viewing distance for 4K is closer than for 1080p.

Yesterday while on the menus of fifa, the right trigger made a strange clicking noise and now it feels flimsy, pretty sure its strawberry floated as after that I had an instance were a menu was refreshing automatically without me pressing the Right trigger and it feels like there is a loose piece in the controller.

I had to set up the Monitor in my living room as well now, as I am playing FIFA again, and I cannot play "competitively" sitting on the couch. I dont have space to put the monitor in the couch, so I have to play on the kitchen table.

It should still be under warranty. Send it back for a replacement.

We seem to live in a crazy world now where people think if you're not sat 2cm from a 75" screen then you're life is basically a sham! The setup Jawa describes is perfectly normal and if games don't provide a comfortable experience with readable text in that configuration then it's a failing of the game not Jawa's feng shui!

But ideal sitting distance to see the best resolution is indeed a thing. (When I first got my 1080p it looked no better than my HD Ready TV until I sat within the sweet spot.) But yeah, hopefully text size options will become the norm on consoles this gen.

7ft is nothing, that's a tiny distance to expect someone to sit for the average living room - even given the UK's notoriously tiny spaces!

Hmmn... I'd never heard of Ava (Éabha McMahon, an Irish singer/songwriter) but, having checked out her music, it seems to be a wee bit mystical... and this would seem to tie up with a slower-paced, albeit epic type of game.
