If they did let us use our game discs (and i'm thinking no way would that happen), I would never have felt so relieved to spend the extra hundred quid on the disc version of the PS5.

I hope so but remain to be convinced seeing PS3 emulation is very difficult to do well. Would love to play something like the Motorstorm games on my PS5

There was a patent thing a while back that got everyone excited ability backwards compatibility and emulation but thus far it has come to nothing. Would be great to see it, I've still got a load of PS1 and PS2 discs!

I got mine by sheer luck, really. I'd heard a rumour that Argos were putting the console up at 6am on a Tuesday morning... I was online at that time and nothing. But, I did it again the next day and I ws fortunate to get my order in.

I'd love to think the the PS5 could emulate the PS1, PS2 and PS3 and that we could pop in our existing game discs... but, unfortunately, I just can't see Sony making this happen. As a business competing with Microsoft I think they'll target their investement towards new stuff that they can charge more for, rather than allowing older stuff to be used to please fans.

I dunno, jawa, with MS flexing their financial muscles with this Activision/Blizzard acquisition, Sony might go for an easy PR win with their concerned customers by letting them be able to play all of their old favourites on the PS5 - "play all your old favourites that made the PlayStation the brand it is today, like Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo 3, Spyro the Dragon, Metal Gear Solid, Diablo 3, Tekken 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Killzone 2!

Got lucky with a drop on Amazon, just being in the right place at the right time. Following the various stock alert Twitter accounts and things like that is probably still worth trying but it's crazy that the situation is still like this over a year on!

I don't think there is anything stopping it technically, Orange; it's "just" a case of coding emulation software to do something with the content.
