They will look like the PS4 Pro versions, but in glorious 8K.

I've obviously never played it but Astro's playroom has pretty much universal praise from everyone. It's up to Sony to green light a full version, I can't imagine it's VERY costly to make so maybe it's being worked on.

8K mode also has ray tracing. But only for shadows. And only when they are off screen.

I’d almost take latter stage as meaning their studios are all working on their last “PS5” titles, while their next ones will be for the next gen as well.

For me, it didn't have anything like the impact of Astro Bot Rescue Mission on PSVR, though; that really was astounding and a wonderful advert for the tech. Personally I would like to see a new Astro game that delivers a similar "wow" moment for PSVR 2.

The original not being playable on PSVR2 is beyond stupid

Lack of backwards compatibility turned me off PSVR2 completely

What the strawberry float? I didn't know this. That seems...shortsighted.

Yeah, I have barely looked at PSVR2 even though I was (am) a fan of PSVR. A few reasons really; predominantly lack of cash on my part but also because of the price tag; the lack of "must play" games; and also a little frustration at the lack of backwards compatibility wth PSVR titles. Even if I did have the dough, I'm not sure that I'd pick up PSVR2 right now - I'd wait until a fair range of decent titles appeared.

Rightly or wrongly, I don't trust Sony's security. Got two-factor authentication turned on, got the longest password in history, don't store my card details on there, and rarely have more than £50 in credit sitting there.

Have this fear that Sony wouldn't then give me access to my account for weeks...or months. Or ever! :dread:

Well fair play to them, they've sorted me out pretty quickly. Full refund on the games that were bought, got me access back into my account and struck off the other serial numbers that had been registered by the fraudsters (which I didn't even know was a thing!) - so drama over. I've added 2FA straight away and obviously updated the password.

Phew!

Just a quick update on this for those that care (tumbleweed.gif) - checked my bank account and credit card this morning and both have had the refunds processed already which I think is pretty speedy, it's normally 5-14 working days.

I know Sony get a bad rep for their customer service but on this occasion they've been absolutely fantastic.

Glad you got it sorted, sounds like a nightmare.

It sounds like this all turned out okay, Preezy - it's great that you got out of this scrape in good shape!

The main culprit is that the original PSVR requires a PS4 Camera to pick up the PS4 controller light thingy.

I would live a full blown astro bot game like any of the 3D Mario games and don't need a PSVR set up.

Look at the free Astrobot game on the PS5. That was short and sweet. A game I would be happy to pay for. A game like that but bigger and quirky.

Make it so, Sony. :capnscotty:

The PS5 console (new model; standard disc version) is on offer at many UK retailers with prices starting at £409 (Currys and Very).

My PS5 internet connection is running ridiculously slow right now. I don't think it's a general issue as speedtest is showing that my net is running at the usual speed.
