PostRe: PlayStation Classic announced - 20 pre-loaded games (FFVII, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, RR4...) - coming 03/12/2018 (£89.99

I've got one pre-ordered but if news emerges before release that there won't be a way to put additional games on it I'll definitely cancel.

Though I guess the bigger issue with that is going to be storage space given the size of a PS1 game compared to a SNES game.

The only worse launch window game than Jumping Flash would have been Cyber Sled.

I'm just trying to remember what featured on the VHS tape that they gave away everywhere. Destruction Derby, Ridge Racer, Tekken, Wipeout, Jumping Flash, Cyber Sled, Battle Arena Toshinden and 3D Lemmings I think.

I've pre-ordered too based on hypothetical releases

Full game lineup should be unveiled soon, but not sure we'll know if it can be hacked to play ROMs before release though.

How did it work on NES/SNES classic mini, did the downloaded games appear on the main menu with box art and everything?

You had to put a bit of work in to upload the box art, but yeah it could be done (I did it).

More importantly, are Retro Gamer going to bring back PlayStation Power for this like they did with SuperPlay?

Doesn't that break eBay's T&Cs? You'd be sitting on someone else's money for 3 months.

Obvious multiplayer game: International Track & Field.

Just the mention of Ridge Racer Type 4 sends me towards my wallet... That has to be one of my 'defining' games. I was in love with the soundtrack. *swoon*

Definitely tempted. Just hope they don't do a Nintendo and release just 5 units for the whole of Europe.

That was a 15. My guess would be GTA.

oh gooseberry fool I forgot about GTA. Even though I spent almost as much time on that than any other game :fp: it's a good shout too, it doesn't rely on any 3rd party licences and it's a freebie on PC so presumably it wouldn't cost Sony much to throw it in this product.

Destruction Derby has a weird IP issue I think. One company owns the name only and the other company owns everything else so it would be impossible to bring to this.

Google images says otherwise for all three games.

Official PlayStation Magazine made the mistake of thinking Resident Evil 2 was an 18 for a couple of months, even refuting readers writing in and saying it was a 15. They apologised for their mistake eventually.

Same here, I'll cancel if it doesn't come with...

Metal Gear Solid

Crash Bandicoot

Yeah those are some of the pillars on which the house of Playstation were built, I'd be very surprised if they weren't present.

Can’t see Gran Turismo coming for the same reason it wasn’t a PSone Classic on PS3 and that’s due to licensing issues.

GAME wouldn't sell this to my friend as I think the demo said 18 on it, I had to go in and get it for him (great magazine by the way, hard to find scans online though).

Considering the younger age of gamers back then, and 18 rated game would surely be a sales flop.

One of my favourites issues that, but the Road Rash feature was a bit of a design disaster. Parts of the text were unreadable because of tyre tracks, if I remember.

But I got a snes mini at launch, played for a week and never switched it back on.

Might wait for more information

I did the exact same thing for the NES and SNES Minis, and yet I don't regret buying them nor did I hesitate in pre-ordering this.

Nostalgia is a powerful weapon :slol:
