It's popped up in the PS Store menu on my PS4. 19 games are available, including Uncharted 3, Ratchet & Clank: Nexus, BioShock Infinite and Mirror's Edge. Rental price seem to be mainly £4.99 (2 days) and £7.99 (30 days).

Seems neat, but I won't be trying it at those prices.

EDIT: There are 173 games available as of 15:10. There are "cheaper" games at £2.99 (2 days) and £5.99 (30 days). There doesn't appear to be any kind of subscription service.

EDIT 2: Blimey... these prices  . Uncharted (2007) is a fiver for two days... or eight quid for the month. You could probably buy a copy for that!

 I was interested in this service. But those prices... killed it dead. Madness. :|

No subscription fee has killed this stone dead for me.

Hopefully as soon as it's coming out of beta, a subscription model will be in place. I doubt it, however.

All is not lost, Wedgie:

PlayStation EU Blog wrote:During the open beta, games will initially be offered for rental only, with a subscription service following later this summer. We are also looking to bring PS Now to more devices including PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV later in the year.

I was thinking that the prices of £4.99 (2 days) and £7.99 (30 days) was bloody expensive for the subscription for all the games, that is a crazy price for individual games.

EA Access is £19.99 for the year, they need to be competing with that sort of price to make me at all interested.

Trying out Shadow of the Colossus as it's £3 and I'm curious about the tech. Works pretty well. There is some compression there and it can look like a moving JPEG at times but it's decent. Your mileage may vary I guess, my connection is pretty good I have 75 down, 20 up so you know a lot of it probably depends on your connection.

If they're following the script of the US PSNow beta (and they have done thus far, the open beta was exactly like this), the "beta's over" announcement will also unveil the subscription service. I would also expect it to be priced similarly, so we'll be talking in the region of £15/month and £35 for three months.

You'll probably be waiting for the PlayStation 6 to get something that's capable of emulating the Cell processor.

Hardly. There's already an early stage ps3 emulator. And that's not even from Sony.

Will give it a go - is it easy to turn off the auto renewal?

I doubt I will subscribe to it long term in all honesty, but am intrigued.

Yes

Just a few games to play on your 7 day trial...

Last of Us
Bioshock Infinite
Ultra Street Fighter IV
God of War III
Metro: Last Light
NiGHTS: into Dreams

Trophies carry over as you can see from my gamercard.

How long can you activate the trial for?

Notice a few titles like the Sly trilogy are on, but I have the first game already so would ideally play the one I bought first before activating the trial and doing the other two.

The trial's 7 days, it expires 7 days after you activate it.

Have to say I'm really impressed with this, I've been playing games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Everybody's Golf where millisecond timing is essential and have had no lag whatsoever. Picture quality is crisp too.

The trial is being offered for the foreseeable future?

It's decent value if you haven't had PS Plus for a year or two. The games have gone off the boil a little on plus at the moment, but if you've had it for a while then it's been a lot better value money for this.

£12.99 isn't that bad though, if you don't have a lot of the titles on the list.

I mainly want to play God of War 3 and Sly 2 and 3. Hopefully I can get through them in 7 days.

Nintendo could do something like this with the virtual console - imagine paying £12.99 a month to access any Nintendo game over their 30 year history? Of course, they'll never do it, obviously.

If they can push the boat out on PS Now and get most of the PS3's catalogue on there, it would be a good deal.

I've just noticed that PlayStation now has popped up on my Sony Bravia TV!

Just plug a PlayStation controller into a USB socket on the telly and you're away.
Didn't realise that that was an option, so that's pretty impressibe I think.

 that is pretty cool.

Also, you'd imagine that's the market they're going for here.

That is cool and definitely something they need to push on any device with a screen.

As an additional PS4 service I still think it's too expensive. Needs to be a nominal fee so that people don't mind paying for a quick go on an old game now and again. As it is, people will be far more conscious of not getting value for money.

Sony need to get this not just to Sony devices but all capable tv's with easy instructions. They would make a load out of this.

I'm sure the one person who played it for an hour during a trial period 2 years ago will be devastated.
