Jawa this sort of faux concern for GamePass is frowned upon.

Looking at the current PS Now games list doesn't exactly drag me in to the service. Stick Folklore on it and we'll talk.

It's ok for PS+ subscribers but I wonder if it's sustainable at current pricing and subs numbers?

Hard to truly judge the value proposition without seeing the games available. If the games are older it's often better value just to buy them outright. It also would have been nice to have had the option of inserting an old disc and then the PS4/5 downloads the backwards compatible version.

Not really interested in subscribing to play old PS1 games because nothing beats the current method of just using a PS3 with the original discs, let alone blowing them up on a 4K screen (stick with a sub 30" 720p TV, folks), nor do I want to stream PS3 titles either.

PS2 backwards compatibility for me has been the biggest challenge, and what I'd be most interested in. Unless you own a working 60GB PS3 (lucky you!), all current options are inadequate.

I have + and Now prepaid for ages.
I wonder if they'll get mashed together into a longer Premium sub?

Game Pass almost certainly costs a hell of a lot to run, but clearly makes a crap load of money (and importantly pulls a lot of people into the wider Microsoft ecosystem...)

The price to the customer of subscribing to Game Pass will almost certainly increase at some point, but right now the value it offers is, for me at least, significantly better than what this PS Plus Extra Premium Deluxe is presenting.

As a subscriber to both Plus and Now, combining the two is good, and specifically as a Now user, finally adding PS5 games is great. Everyone’s looking at the high tier and thinking “old games is that it?” but I think the middle tier is the big one here. A ginormous collection of PS4 and PS5 games to download for an extra £4 a month.

GamePass works out good value even if you're someone who only plays 1 game or so a month because the titles are often new (to buy Halo for example would cost you 45 quid, plus the additional fees to play online anyway) and the GamePass subscription rate can be easily reduced from the RRP; when you have a service that focuses more on the archive and older titles, it often favours those who play a lot of games per month because to purchase the game(s) outright is cheaper than subscribing to the service.

PS3 games can only be streamed as well  what's that about.

When it comes to the classic games, keep in mind many publishers re-release their own games in collections and such these days. You may have some glaring gaps in the collections much like the PS1 Classic had

Worth pointing out that PS3 emulation has come a long way recently too so if you have a way to rip your discs that's probably the best option.
Same for PS2 games really.

Just a tiny thing - Halo Infinite is FTP so you don't have to pay online subscription. The campaign doesnt have co-op yet... :(

The other kinda good thing about Gamepass is the ability to do quests and get it for free.

Ninja Gaiden 2 was €5 (4K/60) and now it’s €30, the same price as the Ninja Gaiden collection! :x

(I salty I missed out)

KK wrote:I take it these PS1/2/PSP games won't be available to purchase separately and won't see any improvements (beyond trophy support), ala Nintendo?

I own a few PS1 games on the PS3 (Destruction Derby, Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2) so if these games are now proven to work on PS4 and 5, it doesn't exactly seem right that I can't play them.

This is the big thing for me. I own some digital PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games. If those games become available on PS5 but locked behind a subscription service, even though I outright bought them on my account, that will annoy me to no end.

Yep, your Now sub will be upgraded to the Premium sub at no extra cost for the duration of your existing membership, Peter.

Not interested in this (haven't had PS+ for years now) but it's interesting to see the reactions in here and elsewhere. I think it's a pretty decent offering, but the prices are a bit high for my liking. Sony are clearly finding it hard to get an attractive-enough proposition at a competitive-enough price.

It's easy for Microsoft as they have a bottomless well of money to absorb losses, whereas Sony have to actually turn a profit with what they offer. Isn't the PS division one of the only areas that Sony makes any actual money these days? They don't have the safety net that Xbox relies on.
