I don't have a huge interest in BC so old games are not a huge interest for me. I'll wait to check the roster before i commit to anything.

Just that the current sub will revert to the standard tier. Not sure about PS Now.

PS Plus gets converted to PS Plus Essential.
PS Now gets converted to PS Plus Premium.

I would assume if you have more time remaining on your Plus than Now, it’ll bump you down to Essential when your premium runs out, but I wouldn’t expect the time to stack (I.e If you have 4 months of Now and 6 months of Plus, you get 4 months of Premium then 2 months of Essential).

The reasoning being if you had paid for both you’re still getting exactly what you paid for without being overcharged, while if you’d just paid for Now you paid for a service that includes streaming and the only one that has that is the one that includes everything. More of a “we have no other choice but to bump you up” than actual goodwill for loyalty or whatever.

Thanks, but just wondering how we're going to upgrade to higher tiers from essential...?

Ah, right, yeah, it's bound to be just a purchase for the difference. (£4 a month for Extra, £6.50 a month for premium)

Sony hasn't published any news on this yet, dude. I'd imagine that Sony would offer a pro-rata payable upgrade fee depending on the time left on your existing subscription, as Nintendo do when upgrading from Switch Online to Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Of course, anyone doing so will pay the appropriate proportion of the full advertised price. I'm gonna be looking out for discounted sub codes from online retailers... if Sony allows for this. (Sub codes wouldn't be of use to folk with existing long-running memberships, though).

best way I've found is buying discounted psn funds, then buying whatever service you want in a ps store sale; double discount!

Probably, was hoping they'd do a little sweetener for existing plus subscribers.

I could see them doing a 7 day trial or something to be honest

Having thought about this more, I'll probably give the full-on version a go for a year. The difference between the current deal and the premium deal is the price of a game. And I want to play Spider Man and Death Stranding, so...

Exactly what I’m going to do, then knock it down to the mid-tier.

Update: We're making fantastic progress with our launch efforts and I wanted to update you on the latest. We're rolling out our new offering for PlayStation Plus a little earlier in select markets in Asia, followed by Japan. Here is a look at our updated regional rollout schedule.

Asia markets (excluding Japan) – targeting May 23, 2022
Japan – targeting June 1, 2022
Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
Europe – targeting June 22, 2022

Someone else can take over the thread, mods they have my permission.

I'm not keen on upping the cost of yet another subscription so I'll stick with the "Essential" level. I haven't been too excited by how Sony has communicated the service changes so far; I wish that they were more specific about the games that are to be included and how games will be added and removed from the scheme.

PushSquare wrote:...as expected, if you’re already an existing PS Plus subscriber, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll automatically transition to PS Plus Essential – an “equivalent subscription plan”, the organisation describes it – and your stacked subscription period will persist unchanged. You’ll continue to enjoy “the same benefits”, and there’ll be no changes to price or payment dates. Things will simply continue as normal.

However, you will have the option to upgrade to PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium at any time. “To do so, you’ll need to pay the difference between your current plan and your new plan, adjusted for the remaining time of your subscription,” the email explains. In other words, if you have six months PS Plus service left, then you’ll be able to upgrade to one of the higher tiers for the remainder of your plan by paying the difference.

It’s unclear whether those who’ve stacked their subscription for years will potentially have to pay for multiple years all at once, but the wording from Sony certainly implies as much.

For folk who stacked up their PS Plus sub and want to upgrade, potentially there may be quite a large cost - depending on how far ahead you subscribed for!

That's an interesting wrinkle to the issue. How many years does Sony let you stack? Is it 3 years like Xbox?

I don't know if this is true, but apparently it's 15 years.
