This will be your first experience of VR, TAP? Great stuff! I recommend trying out Moss - it was fantastic on PSVR and I'd imagine that it'll look even better on the newer kit.

I've played the original PS VR, but only really the launch games, so even stuff like Moss will seem fresh and new. The more modern VR controllers have always seemed light years ahead of the old PS Move controllers, so I'm most excited to try the sense controllers.

Holding out hope Hitman gets a PSVR2 patch too

I wonder if Moss PS4 saves will transfer to PS5. I never finished it and would be tempted to buy it again.

To be honest, I can’t believe they’re only updating RE8 and not 7, the one that was *designed* for VR in the first place. They did a PS5 native version and all! No real excuse.

Ah! Neat! I hope that Astro Bot appears as that was incredible on PSVR.

Unfortunately, whilst Moss Books I and II will be on PSVR 2, there won't be an upgrade path if you bought them on PSVR. Oh well... at least they're - rather oddly - cheaper than the original PSVR versions.

I just watched the Digital Foundry tech assessment and it sure does look to be a great bit of kit. It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of numbers it sells over the first year. I'm hoping it does well so that developers make games that really push the gear.

I'm getting the itch for this, despite the price.

I'll probably hold off for a few months to see how things go, but I'd like to get it later this year.

Yeah, it really does seem to be a lovely bit of gaming tech, Dev. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it!

The tech seems amazing for the price and the reviews are coming in strong. I just feel at the moment the price I can’t justify and the old PSVR isn’t used much by me at all anymore. I know it’s older and the cables and such.. but bar RE7 and a few others there wasn’t any solid VR games that made it worth while.

Be interesting to see if this gets AAA support and how many units sell, but a price drop will probably come in 12 months

Having owned a Vita, I remember how amazing and top loaded the launch period was and then how quickly first party support fell off a cliff. PSP was better, but Sony and third parties had the benefit of being able to sell it again 6 months later on PS2 (or reverse that fact and port a PS2 game to PSP). That doesn’t really work with VR, unless Sony want to start selling it for competing VR headsets.

If this has a really slow 12 months are Sony and others going to stick with it? Too expensive for me to take the chance (which I realise is a self fulfilling prophecy if everyone has that similar mindset).

If you have never had a VR headset and own a PS5 I would say it's a fairly risk free purchase. The number of decent games that are getting, or very likely to get ports is so great that playing them at such a high fidelity on such a comfortable headset is worth the price already. If you have had PSVR 1 or Quest (or any VR headset for that matter), it becomes a slightly trickier question, as so many of the games currently announced are ports with a couple of extra features.

I'd have definitely impulse purchased this had I not had a comedy timing set of bills all turn up on the same day, leaving me rather skint.

As said above, if this is your firsr experience of VR, it will be mind blowing.

I’ve held off for now but still watching closely. I love Sony but they have burnt me too many times with amazing tech that never gets the support it deserves.
Betamax, Minidisc, Vita, PSVR1….

The Vita hurt me most as it was phenomenal but abandoned so quickly.

I still can't get over how good GT7 in VR looks. Dirt Rally on PSVR was pretty incredible, this looks life consuming.

I have a relatively small game collection for the original PSVR... maybe 15 or so games. But the experience was (is) so worthwhile; easily my biggest "wow" moment of last gen.

I did wait for a price drop before jumping aboard, though :shifty: . I was one of those folk who thought "meh, it doesn't look that good" but then, when I actually tried it, I understood. Screenshots and YouTube vids just cannot replicate the VR experience/perspective.

Most will never get the opportunity to try it from PlayStation because the high street is dead and Sony binned off most of their (franchised) shops.

This is an area Apple has a huge advantage because they’ll get hundreds of thousands of people into their stores to try out their VR whenever it launches (which could then indirectly help other companies as people will have finally had experience of VR). By all accounts Apple’s version won’t initially be designed as a mass market product.

They did a sort of PSVR roadshow last time. A few of us went to one in Bristol and it was really good. They had a PS4 Pro to show off there too. I played rigs and driveclub vr.

As a racing fan, Victor, it sounds like the Gran Turismo 7 VR mode could be right up your street. John Linneman of Digital Foundry has been impressed so far:

It does sound great, although just don't think I'd find it quite as amazing as I play all my PC based racing games in VR already, albeit with a lower res display.

Doesn’t look like anyone at all in the UK has had their Horizon bundle despatched, despite tomorrow being launch day. Plenty of standalone headsets on their way, though. Have to wonder what’s up. Problem with the codes? Misprint on the box?

Where are people ordering from? I had a look on Amazon but couldn't see anything legit. Amazon is just a cesspit of knock off crap nowadays.
