I should start making easy to guess claims and pretending I got them from a source. Look how many likes that tweet's got! What a way to advertise my own website that would be.

Exactly, I have no idea why anyone seems to place a small amount of faith in these people to be giving them accurate information, guess people just feel that starved of it they want it to be right.

Double pack is up to pre order at ShopTo, probably elsewhere too now. I have got myself one ordered just in case I do want to double dip on them (which is very likely to be honest ), thought I’d post here just in case anyone else was looking out for the double pack.

Edit, it’s currently on for £82 on ShopTo, £100 on Amazon……..

I’ll pass on this as it seems they will not be including the Platinum content which sucks. I’m going to wait for that Legends game instead me thinks

It's a Game Freak staple since omega ruby and alpha sapphire, of course it doesn't include Platinum content

Yeah, the wording they have been using saying they are staying close to the original release as possible leads me to believe they are skipping Platinum content. Plus surely they would have mentioned it by now if it was included?

It’s possible they might release it as paid DLC

I don't think sticking close to the original is a particularly good way of doing things, if they don't add any new mechanics beyond updating pokemon with fairy type and adding in the new moves that have been added in later gens then it really doesn't seem worth it to me. There's all sorts of romhacks out there that can do that for free (I recommend renegade platinum if anyone wants a good gen 4 hack btw).

They should be going more down the ORAS route with tweaking the story, adding third version content, updating with the latest gen's mechanics (dynamax torterra would be ace) and throwing in some other new features as well. Something I think would be really interesting to see would be some Sinnoh regional forms, although I doubt that'll happen if Game Freak isn't running the show since they're probably protective over who gets to create new pokemon designs.

If it ends up being fundamentally the same experience as the originals but with updated graphics (and arguably not even "better" graphics if you don't vibe with the chibi aesthetic), I'd probably just replay the originals and save myself 60 quid. That said I can still see the appeal for younger players who might not have played the originals, but I think for older fans they need to do a bit more to make it worthwhile.

The Battle Frontier in ORAS was great

The Battle Frontier in ORAS was great

Maybe HGSS was the better comparison lol
Although battle frontier aside, oras still had new megas, updated story with primal kyogre/groudon, the delta episode as an entirely new story segment, Latias/Latios flight and mirage spots, updated Secret Bases etc. so they still added a fair bit of new stuff

I’m still hoping we’ll get a few changes from the originals. Platinum dex, an easier way to access the mythicals outside of Go (which I’m still very hit or miss on, was helpful filling in some of my national living dex though but I basically can’t be bothered in the slightest with raids) of Darkrai, Phione/Manaphy and Shaymin. Some Platinum content would be ideal but can’t see it being quite as in depth with extra content as ORAS were if we do get any.

I always liked how the remakes felt like proper celebrations. Usually in the post game you could catch all the Legends in them, and a huge percentage of the national dex, and they gave you cool ways to grind up to high levels or grind for rare items. I'll still end up getting one of these, but if it really just is the original games with a new coat of paint I'll be incredibly disappointed. At the very least, you'd hope they are not bringing HMs back.

The thing to remember is that these aren't remake like previous Pokemon remakes. They aren't being Game Freak developed. The pattern for previous remakes was to basically bring them up to date with the latest generation of games, sometimes benefiting from coming after the "new" games in that generation. If that were happening here they would look like Sword and Shield with some more polish. What they appear to be instead are much more faithful remakes of the originals and that isn't really appealing tbh

bare in mind we still only have had one trailer, the extent of the loyalty to the originals has yet to be determined

Yeah, these are obviously being produced by ILCA as opposed to Game Freak themselves, maybe they’re seeing if they utilise them as a bit of a porting studio and to help out with the mainline games if they do a good job on the remakes? I’m really hoping at E3 we’ll find out if these are one to one remakes as they imply or if they're including any extra content in them.

Zavvi are stocking a range of Pokémon tshirts, hats, trainers and bags. The trainers shown above are fifty quid.
