Manaphy is from the mystery gift, Mew and Jirachi from Floaroma town.

I managed to get to the Snowpoint gym in the hour or so I spent on this earlier today, will be jumping on it again later to get that bit out the way, will probably jump back into the underground, try and find a few Gible to aid my dex completion. Does anyone know if you can breed the fossil Pokémon?

I saw this morning that you need to finish the National dex off to get the Shiny Charm, completing the Sinnoh dex only gets you the catching charm. Thought it was a little odd that they’ve worked it this way rather than catching charm earlier on and then shiny for completing the regional dex.

A tad under levelled. Infernape and bastiondon were about 65 I think floatzel and vespiquin were about 63 and abomasnow and garchomp were 58. I need to double check

My highest is currently Empoleon at lvl 53 before I start the 7th gym, with the rest lvl 50 except Lucario. Probably a bit too high but oh well.

Check your menu after getting the third gym badge. Or talk to "favourite TV station guy" and choose the "happy wi-fi" option to unlock it a little earlier.

I didn’t know you got it automatically after gym 3, thought the only way to get the Mystery Gift function was in Jubilife!

Finally just getting round to doing the 7th gym anyway

Well Buds and Bolts is going as well as expected. Third stream down, two Gyms done - but one of those I'd spent two hours on again. It was only luck that I managed to win. A paralysed Lucario was down to half health. I sent out my last Budew (with a Luxio still in wait) hoping that this time would be the one. I used Grass Knot, it used Metal Claw. Another Grass Knot, it was down into the red. And paralysis struck, rendering it unable to move. But then, no Hyper Potion came. She did not heal the Lucario. And so the final Grass Knot ended it.

I am so glad that's over with and I won't have any challenge tougher than that.

Is it just me, or are the Fossils really hard to come by in the underground? Not found one yet.

Palkia caught, didn’t take that many Poké balls thankfully

Gym 3 down and everything is at mid 30s.
It's getting hard to not kill wild pokemon before they can be caught. Purposefully taking a mon with False Swipe now.

In the underground is there an easy way to get back to your base (although I have Fly now so that might be it). I've not really seen too much variety in the underground so far...

I’ve not even made a den in the underground yet

Currently in Wayward cave, looking for 3 Gible to add to the dex, once I’ve caught them I’ll be cracking on with the 8th gym.

The Buds and Bolts Run Part 4 saw me tackle the Ghost Gym with ease. Well, sort of. Once I figured the strategy of setting a Light Screen up to protect Luxio against the Gengar so it could give it a good Bite. Then after clearing out Iron Island of all its treasure, the Steel Gym was also won with relative ease. Grass Knot and the bunch of special attacks I've got really came in handy with this one. Although I'm sure Byron handed me the win even though he could have used a strong attack against Budew.

I’ve really enjoyed this just beat the elite four. The game has taken me 40 hours so far.

I found the champion quite hard.
The team I’m using is Electabuzz, Honchkrow, Empoleon, Mr Mime,
Roserade, and Machoke.

She probably would have been easier if I had evolved the Machoke and Electabuzz.

What is a Buds and Bolts run? Grass and electric? Or Budew along with something else? sounds like you’re enjoying it and getting through it though!

I know they love the trading element of the franchise but I really do wish trade evolutions would go away, they have loads of evolution items now so why not just tie them to one of those? Or have them hold the item and level up with a certain move or when you’ve hit a certain level?

You got it right, yeah. Budew and three electric types. It's part of the 1:3:6 style runs I've crafted over the last few years, such as the Wool and Wings Run of Shield. Very few rules, since it's built off the foundation of the monotype run. Just make sure to choose a single 'mon (the 1), a general descriptor such as type, characteristics, or useable move (the 3) to make up the team (the 6). Make sure at least part of that team can be built before the first Gym, but that all six slots are filled (so in my case three Shinx). Also you don't want to overlevel (for me that means more than five levels over a Gym's highest), which is unfortunately starting to happen naturally with my team.

What's the verdict on these versions? Is it worth picking up one of them or do you not lose much by playing Platinum instead?

I had Diamond on launch but never finished it so could be tempted to get Brilliant Diamond for Christmas to try to complete it instead of digging out Platinum and playing it on a New 3DS.

I didn't enjoy Sword very much but loved Let's Go, Pikachu so I feel I may get on better with this than Sword as it's an older title.
