Is there a certain threshold in game I need to reach (like certain number of badges ect) for me to be able to dig shiny stones up?

i dont think they appear in digging spots i think they just turn up in the pokemon areas in the underground

I think you only get one near gym 6? Then in the post game area?

Just making my way to Spear Pillar this morning, then my Switch went to sleep on my

Edit, keep getting Special Attack down Dialgas  I don’t mind what the nature is really but I don’t want a Sp.Atk down when the majority of its attack are special!

Just grinding some levels out for the league now (want them all level 60, so won’t need to do loads), once I’ve beat the league and caught Giratina I’ll be starting to breed the respective Pokémon I’m wanting for my second runs of each game once Home functionally has been implemented. Obviously I’m going to grind extra money on each of my current saves so I can EV train them to some degree with the stat drinks

Edit, I’ll be trying to hold off till hopefully the data-mined events get added to the game as well, just hoping they aren’t one time things.

Is Shaymin only available right now through glitches? I've not touched this since beating it and I just know I'm going to miss time-limited stuff. I need to start my Shining Peal save up too, so I can claim the Manaphy Egg, even though I'll probably not play through it until after Legends Arceus.

Correct, you can't legitimately get Shaymin yet.

I still have no idea why they’ve made the Manaphy egg a time limited event, it’s such an odd thing to make a time limited thing. On the topic of Shaymin, they really need to officially add the Shaymin, Darkrai and Arceus events into the game, the former 2 events are already in the game and I believe part of the Arceus one is in there too? So why they’ve not officially added them yet I don’t know, hopefully they’ll add them around the time of Pokémon Legends Arceus release. I can see Home functionality being added later down the line at the same time Arceus is able to transfer to Home.

I’ve still been playing a fair bit of BDSP anyhow, mainly just grinding out money so I can EV train my Pokémon for my second run of each, just need to breed the 3 I need for Pearl now. Not even going to attempt getting anymore legendary Pokémon in Diamond past what I have (so Dialga and Giratina, its such a slow process getting the shards and I really don’t need more than 3 or 4 of each legendary Pokémon anyway!)

I’m thinking more along the lines of it’ll be a few months after Arceus has come out that we’ll be able to move stuff from BDSP into Home though, rather than letting us transfer stuff between BDSP and Home in the coming weeks and then Arceus further down the line when its been out a few months, hopefully I’m wrong on that front.

I hope thats the case! Be neat if they added the trio of Mythicals in and added Home functionality! That way I might be able to grab another couple of Manaphy eggs as well

Still feel a little bitter they never did a Mythical Pokémon giveaway considering it was the series 25th anniversary :( Even with the Shaymin, Darkrai and Arceus that we’ll be able to get in Legends (and hopefully BDSP too) and the other couple of Mythical I’ve got from BDSP I’m still 4 short of a living dex in Home :(

I'm thinking of buying one of these versions for my wife. Unfortunately, I know little about the Pokemon games. She has been playing the Pokemon games since the GBC days, and recently bought and completed 'Lets Go! Eevee'. She enjoyed it, but she found it strange that you couldn't battle wild Pokemon. She enjoyed it on the whole though.

I hear Diamond/Pearl is more in keeping with the 'original' Pokemon games, whereas Sword/Shield carries on the gameplay style of 'Lets Go!'? Is that about right? Would there be any other reasons to get one over the other?

You can’t go wrong with either really JT, Sword and Shield are definitely the more modern feeling games, BDSP are a very honest remake of the original titles they’re based on with a few modern updates to try and bring them up to date. Sword/Shield isn’t anything like Let’s Go really though, the only similar feature is that you can see a lot of the Pokémon in the overworld before getting into a fight with them, you can also have Pokémon follow you, like in BDSP as well. The DLC for Sword and Shield would make me lean towards those games though, they’re very good Pokémon games as is and the DLC just adds more Pokémon, easier way to train Pokémon and the second DLC is essentially a legendary Pokémon catching adventure which I loved (but can see why some wouldn’t).

Sword and Shield seems to get a fair bit of hate from the Pokemon fanbase, but I thought it was really good. It's got proper battles too, not like Let's Go. Admittedly, my preference is for newer games. My favourite generation is the Sun & Moon (or specifically Ultra Sun & Moon) on 3DS.

I've not really been into BDSP as it feels like an old game rather than a modern one, although it does have quite a few modern quality of life improvements.

Sword/Shield doesn't carry on the style of Let's Go - Sword/Shield has traditional pokemon battles, with you battling wild pokemon and getting them down to low health before capturing them.

Sword/Shield is much more modern than Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and for my money a lot better. The UK setting is very appealing too!

I finished Let's Go Pikachu and Shield (and preferred Shield), whereas I gave up on Shining Pearl at three gyms.

I don’t get a lot of the hate for Sword and Shield either, they’re really good games overall! Sure they could have been better in some regards but I’ve loved all of the time I’ve put into them so far, to the point where I’d probably do a new run of one of those alongside another run of BDSP if we weren’t getting Legends Arceus in a couple of weeks. With the DLC there is a lot of content in there as well.

I liked Sword once I got into it. Visible pokemon in the field is so much better than random encounters, don't know why they went back to it for these gen 4 remakes.

Cheers for the input guys. I'll get Shield/Sword in that case, and maybe pick up Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl for her at a later date.
