What is a Buds and Bolts run? Grass and electric? Or Budew along with something else? sounds like you’re enjoying it and getting through it though!

You got it right, yeah. Budew and three electric types. It's part of the 1:3:6 style runs I've crafted over the last few years, such as the Wool and Wings Run of Shield. Very few rules, since it's built off the foundation of the monotype run. Just make sure to choose a single 'mon (the 1), a general descriptor such as type, characteristics, or useable move (the 3) to make up the team (the 6). Make sure at least part of that team can be built before the first Gym, but that all six slots are filled (so in my case three Shinx). Also you don't want to overlevel (for me that means more than five levels over a Gym's highest), which is unfortunately starting to happen naturally with my team.

I’ve found the exp induced levelling curve quite odd on the whole. It starts off as you’d expect, you’re just over the oppositions level, then you hit the mid game and you’re massively overlevelled unless you’ve gone out of your way not to be, by the time you get back towards the end it seems to be swinging back to your team being on a similar level to what Cynthia’s team will be (I’m guessing most of mine will be high 50s to mid 60s by the time I face her, depending how long they’ve been on the team) so maybe it will balance out for your run too?

Anyhow I’m just making my way to the Pokémon League :datass: I’ll be challenging it ASAP once I’ve bought some potions which I’ve barely bought any of all game

Hopefully so. It's only two of the team that are overlevelled, so I guess they'll soon be knocked back into line.

Just beat the league! Got pretty lucky in the fight against Cynthia, Empoleon ‘toughed out’ one hit bit against Lucario but then got wiped out by Garchomp very easily! Spiritomb is still an insanely good Pokémon in this, barely any weaknesses, solid offence and defence stats with only its speed being a poor stat, was shocked how easily it took out Mismagious and Lucario (Lucario in one and Mismagious in 2, one sadly being a sucker punch).

I’ve loved playing through this again, it’s far from a perfect remake, the controls can be very clunky but overall a very solid game, one that I’ll definitely breed a team (maybe EV train them with the stat drinks to make it an OP in game team) for and replay again when Home integration is available, the only thing they could do wrong now (other than fixing the bugs) is making the almost inevitable Darkrai and Shaymin events timed rather than a post game one once you have obtained the required item.

I really hope we’re going to get an Arceus event patched in at some point as well. Not as good as Sword and Shield overall but still very enjoyable, really hope ILCA doing a remake of Gen 5 in a similar vein, with added Legendary/Mythical Pokémon added in!

Will be getting the national dex ASAP so I can move onto the Legendary Pokémon section, although catching Giratina will be my first port of call.

Technically I would need to probably do the trade using Pokemon Home if anyone wants a mythical in exchange but yes. Is there a generic Pokemon trading thread?

To be honest I’ve thought for a while we could do with a general Pokémon thread, covering the games (obviously they’d have their own thread too), trading, TGC and the anime for those who like those.

On the topic of trading, I didn’t think you could trade mythical Pokémon via Home?

I thought you could trade mythicals to friends, it's just you can't trade mythicals on GTS. And as an aside why can't you use the GTS on the Switch Home app? You've got to use the mobile version.

Q: doenst the gym badge system mean if you are overlevelled then your Pokemon don't listen to you? Or did they get rid of that?

There’s no reason why you can’t use GTS on the Switch’s Home app, other than they don’t want you to  I have no idea why they haven’t or don’t want to add it to the Switch app.

Having a Google it looks like you are right and you can trade mythical Pokémon if you’re friends.

Yeah no post gen4 pokemon allowed in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. No Home connectivity until 2022 either.

Ye. It's to stop you from just trading over a high level pokemon to blitz through the story.
