Looks pretty good overall, although as I do plan to get a copy of Sword so I can aim for a living Dex in Pokémon Home I guess if I want to play the DLC on both versions I’d actually have to buy the pass twice? Think that can be a definite no! Especially as the only difference seems to be your rival in Isle of Armour. Only thing I’m not keen on is what they’ve done to the gen 1 legendary birds :dread:

Pokémon Home coming next month, with next to no information still :fp:

While I wasn’t really expecting it I’m still ever so slightly disappointed that they’ve not ported over the Virtual Console versions of BRY and GSC, would have thought it’d have been easy money for them.

Genuinely disgusting practice of releasing a half finished game and then selling the rest of it for £27 utter madensss.

Nintendo normally gets a free pass from many but if this had been EA more people would be annoyed.

Considering the lies and lack of features in the base game this should be free as a good will gesture. It seems Nintendo is an amazing company but when it comes to mobile or Pokémon they are as bad of the rest of them.

Wish my image sig would work

They said there's different people and locations. in the direct. Whether that means a house is in a different place or there a whole section blocked off on one version is anyone's guess.

Still not worth blowing another £27 on for minor differences, only reason I’m definitely getting a copy Sword is because I’ve got a £50 voucher via work

Oh, I completely agree it isn't worth it, I do find it a bit strawberry floating annoying though, for someone to actually experience everything including locations now they have to buy both games, it's gooseberry fool.

While I think the extra content in Ultra Sun/Moon like the Rocket stuff should have just been DLC, I'm not a fan of what they've done here. Especially not at that pricing and making even more stuff exclusive to each version.

I liked these games, and taking out the time I've spent on sessions where I've been solely doing max raids or shiny hunting, I spent maybe 60-70 hours on the main game. I didn't really feel like the game was lacking in content really, despite stuff they cut.

The main issue was the lack of polish, so it would have been nice if the focus went towards making the next games the best they can be, and maybe having pokemon they re-introduce in later games added to SW/SH as a free update, sort of in the spirit of how Ruby/Sapphire initially didn't have a national dex and only got it after it traded with later GBA games.

But oh well. Not that I'm upset - this announcement was just not really what I wanted to hear. As of now this expansion pass is a hard no from me even if I could afford to splash out on stuff right now, but I'll maybe pick it up in a sale later if it goes on sale.

Don't really understand this. Sword/Shield are full games, they have a full set of gyms, the story wraps up, there is an existing post-game, and easily 30+ hours of content. They explicitly talked about these two DLC being a new approach instead of releasing an expanded version of the game like they have done from the very first generation, which makes £27 cheaper than such a thing has cost in the past (where you'd pay full price for a new release that repeated a lot of content).

Read this DLC brings back 200 original mons.

I think this proves what I thought about the Sword/Shield controversy. They likely don't have the staff, ran out time and sacrifices had to be made. And then the PR handling of why they were excluded was completely cack handled. The reason they gave wasn't accurate and it exacerbated the whole issue.

Their management and PR completely strawberry floated it basically.

Wait, do you not get both locations for the game of your choice for £26.99? Is it just one of them?

You get both when they release. The wording is talking about the pass for each game. Because technically, they are different games.

They really made a new Regi form, damn. At least it looks more interesting than Regigigas. I think the what we get in the DLC is pretty decent considering it's a whole new story. More outfits and hairstyles too? I'm hyped.

Out of everything they announced the one thing I am not excited for is yet more legendary/variations of pre existing legendary Pokémon. Although on a plus point it does look like you’ll be able to catch nearly all of the legendary Pokémon in the second expansion, might finally be able to catch and use a Darkrai if it gets included! One of the few legendary Pokémon I actually would like to use at some point.

Er so it looks like they applied an update to my version of the game today, though I've not ordered this new DLC. I'm nearly at the end of the main game and am over 75% through the Pokedex - will this update mean that my completion ratio will go down? I'm hoping it won't disqualify me from the post-game / Pokedex completion rewards I've heard about - but at the same time I'd take a free Slowpoke!

i cant wait to find out more about the new regional forms

the gigantimax galar starters are interesting, a sniper up a tree makes sense for what they were going for with intelleon, but what is the deal with cinderace's?

So if you have both versions you need to buy 2 expansions?

If any of these regions contained a Battle Frontier like area I would be interested in picking this and the DLC up.

Exactly right. As for everything they contain, I doubt we'd know the full details until near to release, which will probably be a Direct before the main E3 one, same as last year.

I doubt it. When they added previously unavailible pokemon to Sun/Moon and ways to transfer them from older games, the dex requirements didn't change at all. There is no precedent for regional dexes changing - either they add a separate national dex mode, or they don't (like in Sun/Moon).

Edit: Just caught the slowpoke and yeah, there was no pokedex entry for it.

Big fan of this. It covers my entire Wishlist when the Direct was announced.

Will you need to buy the DLC to get the new pokemon (excluding the new slowpoke)? Seems expensive, even for a Nintendo expansion!
