It's totally turned me off it tbh. I liked that it was a glorified pedometer, all this teaming up with people shut I can't be arsed. Haven't bothered and really don't intend to.

Is this still even a thing? I enjoyed it for the first few weeks after release but then moved on, what have they added to it in the interim?

Game isn't as big as it was a year ago but it still has 65 million monthly active users according to the devs, dunno why people seem to think the game is dead. Main things they've added off the top of my head:

gen 2 Pokemon
new tracker that shows what Pokemon are at pokestops as well as what's nearby you
themed events where certain types of Pokemon have much, much higher spawn chance (ghost types at Halloween etc.)
buddy Pokemon (it earns candy whenever you walk a certain distance, handy for rare types)
Pokemon appraisal (basically an IV checker)
new moves
gym raids (co-op gym fights against super strong Pokemon)
new pokestops and gyms
gyms now have a spinning pokestop to get items from them too
legendary Pokemon

Still no trading or battling between friends

Basically in my head if I'm no longer interested in something then it ceases to exist

They had a Pokemon Go festival thing the other day somewhere in America but it was a DISASTER because they didn't bother to put in temporary mobile masts or anything, so the networks couldn't handle it and people couldn't actually pay the game. The Niantic CEO got booed on stage and someone threw a bottle of water at the host :fp:

They ended up having to give away $2million worth of Pokemon coins, everyone who attended got $100 free because of all this.

I was surprised as well. Went out for a meal with some friends and 4 of them whipped out Pokémon Go while we were waiting for food. Antisocial bastards.

I caught a Lugia yesterday.

I was actually intending to take my kids out so they could experience a big group Raid and catcha a rare 'Mon, but in the end I was the only one who snagged one. So I had to deal with tearful kids all night... strawberry float Pokemon Go.

Are Articuno et al only available as part of the promo or are they released for good now?

It's not been made clear. Most popular interpretation seems to be limited time for now (maybe to be replaced by another of the three), Lugia staying for longer.

7 raids 0 captures :(

That makes me sad "Hey we spent years working on this awesome free Pokemon game for y'all to play, and we keep updating it blahblah" - then people throw bottles and gooseberry fool, like idk man, that woulda hurt had it knocked her on the head (evidently it had water in it). "WE CAN'T PLAY BLAHBLAH" jeezo

We have created a generation of soft, hysterical, entitled and probably ugly crybabies.

I think it's this whole fan-praising culture that has given a faux-importance to customers/general public.

It's evident at like Comic Con and all these conventions, "couldnt have done it without you fans"... "you guys are the real heroes"... it gets the most WHOOS and CHEERS when those things are said. Star Wars celebration was a strawberry floating nightmare for that. Apart from drilling yub-nub into my head like 90% of the talking was like circle-jerking "you guys are best " blahbalbah.

I don't think we created anything, I aint responsible for the idiotic actions of other people. They should take responsibility and learn to be nice..,.

And im not suggesting anyone start suing anyone (thats like ... a big problem in the states) but surely the person who threw the bottle should get some sort of justice. If i was up on stage id be like "WHO THE strawberry float THREW THAT" and then proceed to take them up on stage and throw the bottle at them while they were walking up.

I think the event was ticketed, and many people had travelled a long way to be there for a chance at some rare 'Mons.

Hmm, i guess that makes the anger a bit more understandable. Then again i defended bieber when he got water thrown at him. Just not cool.

Niantic has shared the dates during which various Legendary Birds will be available:

Articuno (Team Mystic) released on Saturday, July 22 and available through Monday, July 31.

Moltres (Team Valor) to be released on Monday, July 31 and available through Monday, August 7.

Zapdos (Team Instinct) to be released on Monday, August 7 and available through Monday, August 14.

Given how hard it is to get post work raids (and you have to be lucky with spawns) that gives me another weekend to get each of the Legendaries. It's not happening based on current luck :(

Why do they have team names against the pokemon? Does that mean only Mystic can catch Articuno?

0/13 Articuno

0/5 Lugia

The RNG and low chance in this might put me off gane
