Mass outbreaks refresh whenever you go out and return to the village. So there should be another one after you sit through a few loading screens.

I’ve done a few more standard mass outbreaks, but it’s part of one of the quests (think it’d 98, probably doesn’t make much difference) where the rainy weather stopped after I’d done one and got sidetracked by a massive mass outbreak of Arcanaine, doesn’t seem to have refreshed anything as of yet though.

Edit, they’ve finally respawned, took a lot longer than I thought it would.

Initial thoughts:

+ Fully 3D pokemon game!
+ Throwing pokeballs and catching feels very satisfying, I think they nailed this mechanic specifically!
+ The battle transitions are great
- It does look rough, especially with jarring things like shadows in the foreground (directly over my player even) disappearing when I've rotated the camera away from the object casting them.
- Jubilife does feel very artificial with its row of NPCs standing outside buildings, although it could be worse.
- Slow tutorialising to begin with
? Being from the "modern day" is weird!

Unexpectedly I went with Oshawott - having checked the final evolutions out.

Kinda annoying

I kind of wish they’d chucked various levels of grit at you for the post game quests rather than various items to make more Poké balls, by this point you either have more than enough items to make them, or have enough money to just buy them, the grit not so much as you just have to catch varying levels of Pokémon to get the varying levels of grit.

The Massive Mass Outbreak Quests help with having lots of high levels to discard.

Still finding organization of your Pokemon to be a nightmare. I need to crack on and fill the first 8 boxes with a living dex, then keep alphas, shinies, legends and unowns at the back, and know I can happily discard everything in the middle.

Depends if you’re catching much though  In the massive mass outbreaks it feels a lot harder to focus on catching them, they all just seem to become aggressive towards you I just seem to get hit with attacks almost constantly. Hopefully they’ve just upped this slightly for the quests and it’ll go back to normal afterwards.

Lol yeah that's what I've been doing since I had to. It's nice to get something useful out of releasing mon.

It really is. I wish I could just sort them all numerically. Would at least help declutter it a bit. The multiple select is mostly useless too since whatever formation you pick things up, that same formation of space is needed to then put them back down, rather than just having them occupy the first however many slots available in the box.

Think I’ll just find a map that lists all the guaranteed Alpha Pokémon and mark them on my maps then use them to farm grit and exp in one go, sounds like the battle thing after this lot of quests can get quite tricky towards the end.

The massive mass outbreak quest line really does stop all of a sudden doesn’t it?

Path of Solitude opened up now, hopefully they are the only ones you get quests for? Not fancying grinding out every single Pokémon to finish a path with it  A few I’ll probably have the motivation to do though!

I've played a little more, and yeah I really love the actual feel of this! Be it transitioning into battle, catching a pokemon or gathering resources, it just feels good and right how you throw pokeballs around to do all these thngs. My eight year old self would be blown away by how much this mechanic makes you feel like a pokemon trainer from the anime. Even being able to move around a battle and watch from the sidelines, that's really cool!

The way the pokedex is handled with the goals for each pokemon is also great. The game doesn't need anything else, just the pokedex existing would give me reason to play it and progress.

Oh and if you catch it just right, with the camera just so and enough going on in the foreground to hide the sparsely drawn distance, and not rotating the camera so you don't get pop-in and schrodinger's shadows, this can actually look pretty nice!

The higher level game structure and story feels prototype-y and unfinished, but the minute-to-minute gameplay out in the field and the pokedex-driven objectives is a really appealing core. It genuinely feels like an experimental new direction, which is a really surprising thing to be saying about a pokemon game!

Very glad I picked this up. Absolute night-and-day with my experience of Shining Pearl. This game and New Pokemon Snap have made me a happy pokemon fan again!

Actually feeling some challenge early on too. Tried to take on a red-eyed rapidash and had to run away and got ganged up on by some shinx, which left me limping back to the camp to rest with half my team down!

Not fainting after a full-team wipeout was a jarring experience the first couple of times, I must say.

70 hours in, just finished the pokedex and got the shiny charm. All that's left now is some of the daybreak quests/battles.

Not particularly, I've been faffing around massively and only just done the second Noble fight about 30 hours in so I'm not really sure what stuff is difficult to find at this point! Only thing I can think of is a big/Alpha Buizel if you happen to have one, I've been chucking every Buizel I catch at that guard and he still isn't happy. Otherwise just send me anything, I seem to have had pretty good luck grabbing Porygon in rifts so far so I have plenty to spare
