Pokemon Legends Arceus | NSW | Jan 28th 2022 | ‘Daybreak’ update out today!

So as a Pokemon newcomer, am I right in thinking that this is a completely different style to the previous games? Whereas in previous games you'd travel between gyms to become the best Pokemon trainer (or defeat the baddies), Arceus is definitely all about the exploration and logging of new Pokemon?

I assume there will be the same gameplay loop of catching/levelling up Pokemon to help capture/defeat more dangerous Pokemon? Only rather than doing battle in gyms, you are doing so in the wild?

Yes that's what it seems to be. Although there are trainer battles.

Yeah apparently you take on missions which are gated by the number of pokemon you've caught and other requirements.

I'd been under the impression this was meant to be a lot more ancient than the late 1800s. Perhaps because the Hisuian forms of Pokemon? The idea that they could die out in 130 years doesn't feel right.

Also, Sword and Shield made lots of references to the industrial revolution, so there were towns in those games closer to what I'd align with that period.

I don't think they have really paid much attention to historical accuracy tbh :lol:

I mean we’re in 2022 and we don’t even have functioning Poké balls to catch random animals yet so even years ago the Pokémon civilisations are probably a lot more advanced than we are now in some regards :lol:

I was going to quickly put it in Home to fill up my Home dex. At this point, if I let it evolve, they'll announce Home immediately.

Oh I've got the first stage of the sinnoh starters in Home dex already, cheers. It's the stage 2 I'm stopping from evolving.

I know I could just hatch more with the ditto I've got in Diamond and speed evolve with elite 4 but I'm lazy and stubborn. If they haven't announced the Home update by the end of the week, I'll evolve.

Not yet. Apparently there's a fixed one in Snowpoint Town but I'm not there yet and besides I want my starter to keep his amulet coin.

I should be getting my copy of this on Saturday from my friend, who once again has ordered one too many copies for the preorder bonuses :lol:
