My niece is sad that Mimikyu isn't in this since that's one of her favourite Pokemon.

Maybe it just got better at disguising itself.

I hit the credits on this a couple of days ago, although I still have plenty to do (I have plenty of pokemon missing from the photodex, many more individual star levels to fill out, routes to discover, and I've only completed about 10 requests!)

Played for 10-15 hours so far and I've really enjoyed it, pretty much exactly what I wanted from a new Snap game and I am impressed by the size of it.

This is good to hear. I'll be starting it when I finish Shield and haven't played the original for a long time so it should be good fun. :D

My main complaint is probably the illumina spots which are the kind of "bosses" of the game. They are a cool concept but in practice they take too long to get through to only be given the chance to score one single photograph (or in subsequent runs, maybe a handful). Most of the replayability is in the proper routes and not the illumina pokemon unfortunately - but to be fair this is pretty much how Mew was in the original.

Maybe if it wasn't on rails it would offer more replayability?

I'm pretty sure it's the opposite!

It's funny because the game is literally built around replayability

- Leveling up routes changes what appears in them and you can choose which level to play at
- Routes have branching paths to discover
- There are day and night versions of routes with major differences
- You unlock new abilities throughout the game that you can go back and use in previous routes
- New requests get added challenging you to go back and find specific things
- Triggering certain events will exclude you from triggering others in any one run, and multiple photo opportunities will be available at the same time, so it's literally impossible to get everything on a single run even discounting level changes and branching paths and having all the abilities unlocked

You can map the game design onto a free roam framework rather than on rails and you'd end up with something like Hitman. It wouldn't really change how replayable it is!
