Well they were the devs on Metroid Prime 4 originally before it got pulled from them and given to Retro. They also help out with development on Smash Bros. They also port a lot of their games to Switch such as Dragonball Fighterz which was a really great port.

I don’t think it was ever clarified why it was pulled, one thing I did read before is the the development of MP4 was being split across multiple BN studios so wasn’t coming together quite how Ninty wanted. The fact they working on this means they can’t have any bad feelings you would have thought.

My recollection might be off but wasn't everything that BN had developed in respect of MP4 binned entirely? i.e. Retro started from scratch?

Yeah that sounds about right, that’s why we have not seen much of it since the Retro takeover Of the project was announced.

To be fair, they make Smash Bros, they don't just help out.

The Metroid Prime 4 development was supposedly being lead by the Singapore team, which was only set up in 2013. They were also the team behind the cancelled Star Wars 1313 so they haven't had much luck in their history to date.

Looks properly lovely, that does. Pre-release footage, natch, but it doesn’t half show up Sword/Shield!

That's pretty soon! :toot:

New trailer is promising without giving much away, hopefully this will be densely packed with optional set pieces and secrets!

Knew it was the the case when they first announced it, but Nintendo teasing us with that 3D open-world Pokémon game but then keeping it on-rails like the original </3

Like I posted before, not only does it being on rails make thematic sense in evoking being on safari, it means events throughout the level can be really tightly choreographed, and densely packed levels that are repeatable and designed around the player's route like an interactive theme park ride. I'm sure you could make a snap like game that was free roam like a Hitman level or Majora's Mask but being on rails can make the design so much constrained and directed. The original game was like that and I want a sequel to build on the same principles.
