It only took 20 years of asking.

In a game where appearance is everything, it looks graphically awful. None of the charm or warmth of the N64 game apparent in that trailer.

I have to admit not really getting the world and their Growlithe’s enthusiasm for Snap 1, and after they’d shown off what seemed a much more detailed world than S&S my heart sank just a little when it turned out you’d not be exploring it, just taking photos. of it along a linear path. (And then the world turned out to be completely CGI apparently.)

That said, I know a lot of people will be very excited and I’m happy for them.

I thought it looked quite nice actually. Not really interested in this but the kids will probably want it.

Couldn't they have made it free roaming though?

Surely labo vr support is in for this.

Wow! Finally, a sequel to the best Pokemon game.

I think it looks nice. The environments are colourful, the Pokemon look cute. Pokemon Snap is all about the secrets and details so hopefully they've nailed those bits. Looking forward to it!

Never mind all this Snap2 business. Pokemon Smile is clearly where the real action will be!

How many pokemon were in the original, like 63 at best? Good to see so many different types in the trailer.

63 is exactly right. I’d hope that the sequel has at least a few hundred - there’s no real reason not to have them all available really.

Finally! Although I maintain it would have been better as a 3DS AR game.

Pokemon Go has a mode that basically does this.

Why would you want to free roam in on rails shooter?

Because twenty years have passed and they might just have thought to update the design principles and offer us something new this time?

I'm sure lots of people will enjoy what this is offering but I would find a game that gives me a free roaming island to explore and take pictures of Pokémon to be more interesting myself!

I remember the first game well, it was fun, but had very little longevity, and was definitely not worth the full price at the time.

Announcing a new pokemon snap after 20 years and not having it play like pokemon snap would have been terrible so I'm very glad it's on rails.

It's all about hitting triggers to discover secrets which makes loads of sense for the genre where those secrets can be densely packed and tightly designed, while the on rails nature gives it a very safari park vibe so thematically it works too.

Just hope they get it right
