I’d forgotten about the Alolan Pokémon being available at points, traded for an Alolan Diglett and then never bothered with the rest. I’m just going through the league again, nice to see they actually make some changes on the second time through.

Edit, second run of the Pokémon League done, Poke’ dex finally ended up on 126. I could get a couple more quite easily (evolve Goldeen and Dratini into Dragonair, as I found a wild Dragonite flying around on Charizard!), struggling where to find Moon stones and Eevee exclusives but compared to the newer games I certainly had a lot more fun filling out the dex, probably because I know there was only 151 rather than 800 + these days :dread:

Where do you find Goldeens and Seakings? I haven't seen a single one yet outside of fisherman battles and I've just got to Cinnibar island :slol:

Only place I could see was the small patch of water between Saffron and Vermilion.

First thing I found when I went surfing there :slol: Thanks for the help! 134 Pokemon in the Pokedex now. Only missing the Pikachu exclusives, the trade evolves, Lickitung, Dragonite and Mewtwo. Just pulverised the Pokemon League (pretty much all the way through with just Raichu  ), so I should be able to tick at least two Pokemon off that list soon.

Is the post-game just the MASTER TRAINERS, or is there a little more to it? Bumped into Jessie and James flying along the Pokemon Road, are they going to keep showing up, or was that it? They gave me an outfit, so I'm assuming that's the last I'll see of them.

You can find them in Mt Moon, Eevee or Pikachus tail starts wagging when you're close to a hidden item. When their tail waggs really fast then you know you're right next to the item.

There's 2 of them and they respawn every day in the same spots so try to remember where you found them.

So it's been about a month since I did my playthrough and haven't touched the game since. This is completely unlike me when it comes to Pokemon.

Perhaps it is because Kanto is a world I know so well, perhaps it is because the 'mon will be unusable in mainline games, but this game has so little staying power. The magic of the game was entirely surface level.

Cheers, I do mean to return to this and finish off the dex and make a start on the master trainers at some point but for the time being I’m cracking on with other, relatively unplayed titles in my collection.

I do agree in some ways, while I do plan to go back and finish off the dex and do some of the master trainers (really doubt I’ll beat all 150 of them) normally I’d have probably not stopped playing, even if just to level up my team if previous games, I’m not sure if its the game or the fact I’ve simply got other stuff to play that’s kept me away from playing it some more. While the master trainers make it sound like there’s quite a lot of post game content it is quite light, it wouldn’t surprise me if I ended up going through the game again though by making a second user account and using a different team.

Still loved my first play through though :)

Is there a better way of grinding than just trying to build up a decent catch combo? Can you ever fight the coach trainers again?

Also, why do the master trainers make you fight with the same pokemon? :dread: That's the most disappointing post-game ever.

I only usually finish the main game of most Pokémon adventures nowadays. I was completely satisfied with my experience.

So glad Gyrados can learn dark-type moves. First time around nothing I did to Mewtwo did any real damage :slol:

Is anyone free now to swap my Graveller and Kadabra to evolve them?

I had the same experience. First time I got nowhere. The second, two crunches and it was all over. God knows how many excellent ultra ball throws it took to catch the bugger.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

One Hundred and Thirty Six Pikachu caught over more than three hours, and not one shiny encountered.

I thought this was meant to be the easiest shiny encounter rate of any game? Or am I just stupid for trying to make my first shiny catch a 'mon who has very little difference between normal and shiny?

It is the easiest. Though it will vary. I saw someone catch a shiny Squirtle with a 200+ catch chain and another Mon with 500+. Still better than the something daft like 1 in 8000 in normal games.

I don't know if that is the correct odds.

I think if you have the Shiny Charm and a catch combo over 30, the odds are something like 1 in 1400.

However you still have to consider the actual Pokémon's spawn rate in that area (some of the rare ones only have a 5% chance of spawning in the first place) and you need to think of the time it takes for the unwanted ones to disappear.

Damn straight. Everyone who chose Pikachu (so most of you) should be ashamed of themselves.
